Overview

The Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.25 is a softer playing poly string. This one is very, very spin-friendly. Power players will love the control and feel they get from all areas of the court. A solid, durable string that is a great choice for aggressive, big hitting players.

Good string for EZONEI tried this string both in the EZONE 100 and VCORE 100L. It's working very well for the EZONE but not at all on the VCORE.

Fantastic string!I ordered two sets, one in Black and one in Yellow because of the difference in feel. I can honestly say that I do not feel any difference in how these two string play. Going forward since I am playing with an Ezone racquet I will go with a black string! Either way a Fantastic sting to play!

Excellent friendly polyYonex Poly Tour Pro is a very good poly with a balance of feel, power, touch and spin, is friendly on feel , not harsh or metallic , not a control oriented poly but not a catapult either. Like any poly it will last alive about 12 hs., response will decrease after that time like more of the regular polys do.

Didn't work for meDecided to try as it was on good price. I've been using Volkl Cyclone Tour which is working good and this seemed to be like a good alternative. They weren't. Strung at 51 pounds, they were extremely stiff. Elbow started hurting after 1 hr. Didn't have control or feel. I did have more power, which I wasn't looking for. I continued to use to see if it got better sometime and because I'd already spent in them and my Volkls were still on their way. They did improve at around the 5th hour! Felt like they loosened up, started hurting less, continued with the power, not great control but better. Finally, something odd happened, they broke (16L). Since I resumed playing tennis 3 yrs ago with poly strings I'd never broken one (I do break multis in as less than 2 hours). So, all in all, didn't work for me.

no complaintsI switched from Solinco Hyper G strings to this one since I read they both give control and spin. The difference is that this string holds up tension longer than the Hyper G. I don't have any other strings to compare it to but so far no complaints. I'm hitting well with these strings and they do give good spin, control, and power.

Flat and plushThis is a great all rounder poly with a crisp yet plush feel. Strung mine at 50 lbs in my EZONE 2022. Definitely one of the arm friendlier polys and has a much lower power response which I enjoy since I can take my full cuts at the ball. My only complaint is that I wish I could generate more spin with it. It had adequate amounts I just wanted a little bit more for comfort as some shots sailed long if I was slow on swing speed.

Comments: Luxilon ALU Power Ice Blue devotee, not any longer. Making the switch to Poly Tour Pro in 1.25mm. Using the yellow color in my VCORE 98, both mains and crosses string at 50 pounds. The pocketing is better than ALU Power, I prefer the Poly Tour Pro power level and the Poly Tour Pro is softer and offers more spin than ALU Power. I always thought ALU Power felt good. Poly Tour Pro feels great. It is slightly less powerful than ALU due to its softness, but feels better and offers me more control than ALU Power at the same tension. Glad I finally tried these and I'm now a fan.
From:Brad, 10/17/20

Comments: I've been using this string for years in a hybrid with gut in the mains. It's job is to tame the gut and let it slide for the snapback it needs for spin. I give this string highest marks in a hybrid set up as it's quite dead, plays forever without losing its characteristics, and is arm friendly for a poly.
From:Thomas, 6/13/19

Comments: Played in hot weather, hard court. Very fun to string. Strung at 46 lbs in the Head Classic Tour 660. They felt too trampoline at first. After first set, it began to feel more control. Maybe because the string character, or because I got used to it. Anyway, spin was very good, nice finishes at the net. Although it is not as harsh on the arm as other co-polys, after 2 sets I felt my arm hurt very much. I will recommend this string to anybody seeking good spin and power.
From:Reuven, 11/10/18

Comments: This string plays rather dead and uncomfortable to me, like pre-stretched Cyclone. Tension maintenance is good I guess, but I just don't like playing with these, sticking with Cyclone in my DR 98.
From:Anton V, 11/7/18

Comments: Strung on DR 98 and DR 100, tried both yellow and black 52 to 53 lbs. Not a good beginner poly to me, it is low powered, soft, and requires good technique. It is difficult to distinguish which played better yellow or black, but I can say that black has a slightly rough texture to it while yellow is smooth.
From:Daniel, 10/12/18

Comments: Strung the yellow 16L on my wife's Babolat APD to replace the Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour 17 strings (50lbs) as it was harsh on her arm. Compared to the Babolat strings, the Yonex is more arm friendly and has better pocketing, and power when strung at the same tension (50lbs). Where it loses out is on the crispy feel and pop that the Pro Hurricane Tour 17 has. I was undecided at first which I prefer, and after 3 weeks of playing both strings on the same racquet, I now prefer the Yonex, mainly for the better power, and pocketing/spin I get over the Babolat strings. The string does reward hard hitters and can get addictive, although it wasn't love at first hit for my case. Definitely worth a try!
From:FJL, 9/11/18

Comments: Lowest powered string I've ever used. I string mid 30s in a 18x20 Blade, and I have to take a huge cut just to get the ball into the opposing backcourt. The directional control and comfort are both very good, and the playability duration has been outstanding, as well. I might try this string again at a sub 30lb tension, but considering I know I'll get good playability and some power with ALU Power, 4G, Element, or Hyper G at my normal tension, I might just stick with those strings instead.
From:Steve, 8/5/18

Comments: String these high. I've used RPM Blast, ALU Rough, Babolat Pro Hurricane, and Technifiber NRG 2 (when I have the extra money). Compared to the polys that are stated above, these are soft and hold it's tension very well. Even though it's not a textured poly, for some reason, I get better soon than with RPM Blast. I have an Eastern/semi-western forehand and swing big and flat. I hit with a Wilson Blade 18x20 and strung these at 60 lbs and have no arm issues. Don't be afraid to go high with these for that poo and control. Just bring your own power.
From:Pat, 8/19/17

Comments: I play with an RF97A. RA on mine is 67. The Yonex Poly Tour Pro is the second full bed of poly I've tried. The previous was RPM Blast 16 at 54 lbs. I used to play with a hybrid of RPM and Technifibre Biphase. The RPM would eat up the Biphase. The Yonex for me serves a new reference point for a string, as I've never felt anything like it. I'm a big hitter, and the reason why I wanted to try the Yonex is because I wanted a softer feel, as I was starting to feel issues in my shoulder and wrist which I've never had before. If you're used to playing with Alu Power or RPM, I'd recommend stringing at least 3 lbs tighter with the Yonex. I feel I should've gone at least 57 lbs on my RF97. I have a feeling it could be okay even up to 59 lbs in hot weather. I used to play with NRG2/Biphase up to 63-65 lbs in the summer on a 93 square inch Diablo. I feel I could do with a bit more power, as the ball sinks in so much on the Yonex, which gives great dwell time, but it doesn't snap back as Alu or RPM. I'm not a fan of Alu, as it's the worst string I've tried for maintaining tension. Hated 4G (plank), the Yonex is a totally dead, but comfortable feel. I'm tempted to try it at a much higher tension before I give it up, as I have some very notiable control issues, but I'm thinking of switching frames to the Yonex VCORE Duel G 97 330g, so I'll have to start all over again and string tighter.
From:Danny, 7/9/17

Comments: I have tested many many polys over this last year in my DR98, but this is in my top two favorite strings for sure. It is very soft and comfortable. Also, for a poly, it has quite a bit of power on tap. I usually like Hyper G at 48 lbs but with this I strung it at 52 lbs as it is a bit more powerful and softer. That was a good choice so I would recommend it a little tighter than normal poly tension. Had plenty of control, so I can swing for the fences -- but definitely no arm pain. My favorite 3 are Hyper G at 48 lbs then Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.25 at 52 lbs followed by Diamond Rough 1.20 at 48 lbs.
From:Tristan, 3/13/17

Comments: I agree with all the comments below -- this is a great string. It has great feel and spin but do not try and get more than a month out of this string, when it dies it's done. The ball flies on every shot and it gets a little brassy outside of the sweet spot. I use it at 53 lbs on my Yonex Duel G97 330, I have tried using it a lower tensions as everyone has mentioned but I haven't had luck, the ball tends to fly on me when I go below 50 lbs.
From:Dave, 11/16

Comments: Good string, arm friendly for a poly. More powerful of a poly than TW review is suggesting in my opinion. Mid-age 5.0 baseliner with KPL2 as default string setup.
From:Anonymous, 11/16

Comments: This is a very nice, well balanced string overall. It is soft and comfortable, yet it has good control. It's difficult to find such combination of comfort and control. The ball grab and bite is a bit lesser than other soft strings such as Signum Pro Tornado, but that's acceptable given the amount of control I can get. I need to try the black one with hopes of getting more bite. My rating for it: spin:6 out of 10, comfort: 7 out of 10, control: 8 out of 10, power: 7 out of 10. For comparison, I will rate Yonex Poly Tour Spin as spin: 9 out of 10, comfort: 5 out of 10, control: 9 out of 10, power: 4 out of 10.
From:Vish, 8/16

Comments: This string offers outstanding performance at low tensions. Power, control, spin, comfort, tension maintenance, and durability. My son who plays futures uses it in a Head Prestige Pro at 36 lbs. Hands down best string on the market. I've tried them all.
From:Tony, 12/15

Comments: I think I'm missing something -- I put these in my Yonex Ai 100 and the first ball I hit at practice met the strings and went right in to the ground. The second ball hit the bottom of the net. I cannot emphasize enough how low powered the string is. I restrung it all away down to 45 pounds on my 100 square inch stiff frame and it didn't feel any different than 50 pounds. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I'm just saying it was a lot less power than I expected and I wasn't expecting much to begin with. After playing two sets at 45 pounds, I'm still not finding the pocketing that I'm really looking for so I think I may retry it at 40 pounds, heck, maybe even 35 lbs. I will keep you posted. I'm a 4.0, heavy topspin player.

Comments: I love this string! I've been playing with 4G in my Wilson BLX 90 for a while now. I loved that too, however, as much as I liked all of 4G's characteristics, it caused me shoulder pain. Which always happens with Lux for me. So I researched the Pro Poly Tour, liked what I heard and decided to give it a shot. Super, super happy I made the switch. Much more spin; much, much softer, better pocketing. Extra pop. Good control. Wish I would've gotten the 16 gauge though. Next time. I'm a 4.5 all court player with big strokes. Painted the baseline all night tonight. Huge on serves flat or slice. Hits heavy balls. You'll be very happy you tried this string. Oh yeah, it was the yellow one, maybe the black is even better.
From:PJS, 8/15

Comments: What is that yellow stuff you have in your racquet? I tell them it is Yonex Poly Tour string and they look confused. This is the first poly string that I have used that gave me the 'poly' difference. This yellow stuff that Yonex makes has been a game changer for me. The shape of the shot this string creates is amazing, good clearance and lots of spin. I've had players tell me that a lot of the shots I was hitting had some bite/kick to them. I used the strings and got away from them primarily only because of too high tensions. That is the key with the poly -- find a low tension in the 50s, or lower, that works and stick to it! Will I be trying out the string again? It's a no brainer.
From:John, 6/15

Comments: I was happily surprised with this Yonex string. This stuff is a lot easier on the arm than other polys I've used. Also has good power if strung at lower tension. Currently I string this up in my Yonex Ezone Ai 98 at 45 lbs. Great durability and enough feel to slice or carve drop volleys. Definitely recommended.
From:Anon, 12/14

Comments: It's true to its description at the back of the packaging , it's easy on your shoulder! So happy that I switched to this poly because it's really a control oriented one. You can take your biggest stroke and be not afraid that it will sail long. Spin is great so if you have flat strokes then it's perfect. Perfect lobs. I really like it. I use it with Sensation 16 as my crosses and string it at 50 lbs.
From:Jaq, 10/14

Comments: I really love this string. It adds extra power but has good spin. Good touch on delicate shots and it lasts forever. I cross it with Weiss Cannon Scorpion 1.22 bcause it is a little muted feeling and I need more feedback for serve and volleying.
From:John, 5/14

Comments: Amazing string! I'm playing it at 50 lbs in my Head IG Speed (16/19) and it lasted for 2 months at 4 hours a week. It has a great soft feel and enough power if you drop the tension below 54 lbs. Hard to find any faults at all. 10/10
From:Jason, 5/13

Comments: So far this is the best poly I've played. Very good control, soft feel and it holds tension for quite a while. Highly recommend for anyone with tennis elbow to try this string. I used to play with Head Ultra Tour for over 5 years, don't think I will go back, just love this Yonex Poly Tour.
From:Ned, 3/13

Comments: This is the best poly, for sure. It's the most powerful poly that doesn't loose tension. It's also very soft, and I'd give it a 10 for controlled power! The price is very nice too! String it the same tension as you would normally string your racquets.
From:Sam, 11/12

Comments: Yonex has hit a winner with this string. I saw favorable reviews on String Forum.net, so I decided to try. For a poly, this string is very high powered in the 16L. Spin was excellent, feel excellent, ball pocketing excellent. Tension held pretty good. At about the 16th hour of play mark the string just died. I wish they had reels of this available. Anyway, give it a try, you won't be dissapointed if you're looking for a higher-powered poly.
