Overview

Babolat updates the Pure Drive Light with FSI Technology, a feature that raises the sweetspot and tightens the spaces between the upper cross strings in order to give players a more responsive hitting zone. Like its predecessor, this version of the Pure Drive Lite is perfect for the player who wants the power, precision and spin of the standard Pure Drive but in a lighter more manageable package. From the baseline the Pure Drive Lite accelerates through contact with remarkable ease, a fact that should allow strong beginners and intermediate players to crank up the pace. Factor in the grippy 16x19 string pattern, and this racquet becomes the perfect weapon for the burgeoning topspin player. At net the Pure Drive Lite feels wonderfully fast, accurate and lively, three features that also come in handy when adding pace and spin to serves. All in all, this impressive update to the Pure Drive Lite, with its redesigned sweetspot, is just what the doctor ordered for those who want a very user friendly path to power and spin.

Comments: My experience with this great tennis frame was mixed. At times, I was hitting returns back with explosive power that my doubles opponents had no response for. But, most times I was hitting returns in the tape of the net and also my slice returns kept hitting the tape of the net. On serves, I was able to produce some nice spin and power with my spin serves. However, when I tried to flatten out my serve, the tennis ball kept missing the mark. On volleys it was the same story. Did well when I was in an offensive position at the net with the volleys. But, had lots of trouble on volleys when I was in a defensive position. Tennis Groundstrokes were consistent at times and was able to get nice spin. But, trying to hit flat with this tennis racquet was not good for me, the tennis ball kept going out. Also, I felt some pain in my wrist when trying to hit flat which led me to returning this tennis racquet back to Tennis Warehouse for a store credit. A local tennis instructor recommended me to use mainly Prince Tennis racquets from now on as they are better fit for my all court, diverse tennis game. This is great tennis racquet by the way, but it wasn't a good fit for my tennis style of play. Thank you Tennis Warehouse for the great customer service and help. That's why I am a return customer.

Comments: This is the best racquet I've used! I have been using this racquet since my senior year in high school and it's still great! Definitely worth the price!

Comments: I tried this tennis racquet out with a synthetic gut string. One of the best tennis racquets I've ever tried. This Lite version was dominant when it came to accuracy. Produced great topspin. I couldn't miss with this tennis racquet in my hands. Great on serve and even better on return on serves. Honestly, felt this tennis racquet will play even better with a polyester string setup. This tennis racquet felt like a machine. The reason I didn't choose this tennis racquet was because of the price. Hopefully, the price will drop soon. One of the best. Any serious tennis player who plays tennis leagues, schools, tournaments, or recreationally will have a real winner with this Babolat Pure Drive Lite racquet in their hands. This tennis racquet was super comfortable too. If you are in the market for a tennis racquet, this is great to purchase or demo.

Comments: It goes against all tennis lore, but I'm playing my best, most dominant, most powerful tennis ever (I'm a former college player) with this bad boy. I find it comfortable with just a dampener and a shockshield grip, with full poly at 56 pounds (much more comfortable than Yonex SV98 -- wow what an awful feeling racquet). This has a huge sweetspot, maneuverable, lets you shape the ball just how you want it, and crushes serves. I know the most powerful and comfortable racquet should be heavy, but I really don't know what I'd change about this racket (after the addition of the heavy grip to make it more headlight). I used to use a lot of lead on the head thinking it must need it, but I took it off and realized I lost nothing, and gained maneuverability and also serve speed due to racquet tip speed. Can't wait for the 2018 -- wonder if it will more powerful, spinny, and comfy.

Comments: The best racquet I've ever owned (until it broke in half at the grip). The 2012 models all all of the Pure Drive have weak connection pieces from the shaft to the grip. Like I said, the best I've hit is with this racquet. I've never had such control, pop, and power. Just be wary of the racquet breaking in half -- as I also had a buddy that the same thing happened, but his was the non-lite version. I now play with eh 2010 Aero Pro Drive Cortex and I'm loving it, as well as the 2015 Pure Drive Wimbledon with the new grip attachment.

Comments: I bought this racquet sometime around January. My first thought is that this racquet is insanely lighter than the typical racquet. It is easy to maneuver but the downside is that it is extremely stiff, considering that it is a Babolat racquet. My play style is all-court, so this was a pretty hard racquet to adjust to. Even with the Cortex unit in the racquet, the vibrations can be insanely unforgiving. Recently, my friend hit a hard smash so I returned with a flat lob. Immediately, I felt the shock go through my forearm. Otherwise, usually, I can't get feel out of this racquet without me hitting a Djokovic-esque forehand. The racquet though, is great. I was able to create a lot of topspin and was able to slice effectively. +1 for the ability to generate spin, -1 for stiffness.

Comments: This is an awesome racquet. I prefer a dampener on it because it really helps increase depth and speed. This racquet has a very vibrant and colorful head which I also really enjoy. Overall, this is one of my favorite racquets to use on the courts.

Comments: This is an amazing racquet! The redesigned sweetspot does require some adjustment time. But, leave the old Pure Drive Lite in the bag and keep hitting with the new and it will come. (I've hit with it for about 4 matches now) The new racquet has more power and more control than the old. I have noticed the there is less "racquet spin" in your hand when you have the off center hit. The new racquet is slightly more head heavy the previous one. That concerned me at first as I immediately started hitting my shots long. However, with a small adjustment I can hit with more power and increased depth to my groundstrokes. Best of all the "slight" increase in head heavy weighting allows the racquet to be much more user friendly with volleys at the net. From a serve standpoint I haven't noticed any increased power but the head firmness provides a much better "feel" while serving. Overall, this is an awesome racquet. If you want immediate improvement to your game put the old Drive Lite back in the bag and buy this one. You will love it!
