Overview

The ProKennex Q Tour (300) gives intermediate and advanced players a very smooth and speedy ride. At just over 11 ounces strung, this stick feels fast, yet it manages to offer above average stability for its weight class. The result is a racquet that moves into position very quickly and delivers a solid feel at impact. The solid feel (and impressive comfort) comes partly from ProKennex's Kinetic Quadfocus Technology. This variation of Kinetic Technology uses moveable mass in only four compartments surrounding the head to deliver greater comfort, power and stability. From the baseline, the Q Tour 300 feels comfortably firm and very accurate on full swings. It also has above average stabiltiy for a sub-12 ounce stick. The whippy feel and open 16x19 string pattern provide very easy access to spin, making this a great option for topspin players. At net this stick offers a nice combination of speed and stability. All in all this is a great option for intermediate players who want comfort, controllable power and spin. Also ideal for those looking to transition into a very mobile player's racquet.

Comments: For 8-9 years, I have been searching for the perfect racquet in the 285 to 305 gram weight range. I have played with numerous models from Babolat, Dunlop, Head, Prince, Volkl, and Yonex. The Head Speed S and the Prince Tour 100T and 100L frames were good racquets. However, the Q Tour 300 is head and shoulders above all the rest. My serve has greatly improved with the 300, and the Q Tour 300 has increased the consistency of my groundstrokes. When I make contact with the tennis ball, the 300 feels like a very strong racquet -- like the old Wilson 6.1 Pro Staff used by Stefan Edberg and Jim Courier; I know that was a long time ago. I am very pleased with the Q Tour 300. Unfortunately, there is only one of these racquets remaining in the TW Inventory. I hope the new Q Tour + from Pro Kennex strikes the ball in a similar fashion.

Comments: A major disappointment. Issues were that it felt much much crisper than a 63 stifness rating. The pattern is so open that control was poor. It was spin friendly but anything hit flat flew several feet long. Not as comfortable as expected.

Comments: I agree with the first comment provided below by David. I purchased 2 racquets and felt that the 320 gram strung weight along with 7 points head light didn't have enough stability and plow through. I added 10 grams of lead tape to the inside of the throat to keep the same 7 points head light swing weight and felt that the playability of the racquet increased significantly. For the 2nd racquet, I added 20 grams to see if it played better and in my opinion it does. I am quite content with the overall playability of this racquet. It now has the feel of a classic racquet with updated power and feel. In conclusion, don't be afraid to add some lead tape to transform this racquet. I string my racquet with 17 gauge Volkl Power Fiber II mains at 53 lbs and Volkl V Star poly in crosses at 50 lbs.

Comments: I am a 4.5-5.0 player that now play about 3-4 times per week. I play an all-court style so I need a racquet that is effective for slices, volleys and overheads as well as groundies. It needs to be maneuverable yet stable. I also am battling medial epicondylitis, so I need an arm friendly racquet as well. I've tried many racquets and found that even with similar specs they all play differently, and all seem to be better on some shots than others. That said, I found the KiQ Tour competent on all shots from all areas of the court. It felt a little more sharp or "jarring" than I expected given the PK reputation for arm friendliness, and although my arm did not hurt after 4 days of use, I still prefer a softer feel; not more flexible mind you, but more absorbent. Players that like a less muted feel will probably like it. It has an RA of 63 and to me feels at least that stiff, especially compared to the Yonex Vcore Tour 97 G 310 and the Babolat Control Tour I was trying at the same time. For me, that was not a bad thing, as I found the firmness, perceived or not, added some power and consistent shot response. The racquet arrived with a multifilament, which made it powerful but lacked the spin and control I wanted. When those strings broke, and I restrung it with Kirschbaum ProLine II Poly 17 at 50 lbs. I also added 10 grams of lead tape. This made the racquet, for me, much better. More spin and control, more plow through and stability, yet still more manuevarble than most. That said, I still didn't get all the spin and control I wanted. Overall, I would rate it a very competent all-court racquet that offers sufficient power and stability, while being maneuverable and arm-friendly. The shot response is consistent and while shots with some racquets fly off the sweet spot and die on off center hits, I found a pretty consistent response everywhere on the racquet face. If I played primarily doubles, it would probably be my racquet of choice.
