Overview

Pre-strung with a synthetic gut for added convenience and value!

With this update to the Instinct MP Head offers an explosive blend of power, precision and maneuverability. Aggressive players looking to dominate the court with pace and spin should find this to be a very effective weapon. For this version Head updates its original graphene formula with Graphene XT. The result is an even more optimal distribution of weight, allowing for smoother acceleration and easier access to power. From the baseline, the Instinct MP feels crisp and swings fast. Like the best modern player's racquets, this stick is lively and very accurate, and the open 16x19 string pattern supplies all the bite that is needed to hit effective topspin and slice. At net this racquet's maneuverability shines. Aggressive volleyers will find plenty of put-away power. The fast feel also comes in handy on service returns where this racquet comes around very quickly and delivers great placement. Once again Head has delivered easy offense to intermediate and advanced players looking for a light and spin-friendly player's racquet.

Excellent control and powerI admit that at first this racquet confused me but after 15 days I began to feel very lucky to have them -- excellent control and power. It is really extraordinary in the handling and the response that I get in all the shots. I highly recommend it.

Head Graphene XT Instinct MP RacquetI like this racquet. It has helped improve my serve and groundstrokes. Also provides more power and is easy to maneuver. I was expecting this racquet to be lighter but I have adjusted; and I've heard that a super light racquet is not good. The impact of the shots would be absorbed more by the arms than the racquet. With complete focus on the tennis ball, a tennis player should see good improvement in her game with this racquet.

seeking more power at a low priceI got these to replace some Prince Phantoms to get more easy power in my game. The Princes are flexy and I used either poly or kevlar in them...with these I will use multi or syn gut. I was also looking for a head shape more oval than the roundish prince rackets I had. The roundish Prince frames seemed to mess up my returns for some reason. I never felt confident on return of serve with them. These seem to fit the bill. I love the early graphene feel (from a smaller, earlier radical frame, still more oval than round) and the headshape of these suits my game. I have found excellent controllable power with high tension syn gut, very good accuracy on serve and good backhand slice effects. Still a very good racquet at this price, I love them without poly strings though. Go high tension with multi or syn gut for the best effect.

Comments: Excellent racquet! Controllable power, good comfort and spin, very maneuverable. Easy and nice to play with. I have strung it with RS Lyon 17g at 23 kg (51 lbs) and it plays very good

Comments: I love the way this racquet plays, but after about two weeks, I started to develop shoulder pain. I am willing to try other strings, but will most likely return to my less powerful Volkl which gives me no pain at all. Sad for me since I paid for the racquet and now I am apprehensive about using it.

Comments: This is a great racquet for spin and power. This racquet goes through the air so fast generating great racquet speed with that power. I can dig out lot of low balls easily with this one. Add a leather grip and some lead at the tip giving the needed heft and stability to go against the big hitters. I wish this racquet was kept in the 18x19 pattern just like the older models but again that would have reduced the spin potential of this racquet. Maybe they should have released the racquet in 18x19 as well with many pros still using the older models with that pattern.

Comments: This is a great racquet for precision and spin. For rallying it definitely doesn't have enough heft and fast return of serves can be a challenge however after adding some weight to the head this racquet swings with the best of them. I have two XT MPs and two Pure Aero Babolats. Depending on my timing and my swing, if I am doing point play or rallying I will choose either or. I would definitely recommend taking a look at this racquet.

Comments: I've been very pleased with the XT Instinct (aside from the garish, fugly cosmetics). More than enough power and stability has been good, as far as I'm concerned. Equally adaptive at the net or baseline. It is easy to customize if you feel more weight is needed but I haven't found it necessary. Spin is easy to impart and this is one gamble that payed off for me.

Comments: I am a man and have been hitting with this for about three weeks and am having difficulty with this racquet. I bought it from a lady who had the same problem. I replaced her multi string with a firm poly and added an overgrip. That helps. I have strung it at 57 lbs and at 50 lbs. Somewhere in between is probably best. You can produce tons of spin and it is fun to play with and super light, but when a 100 mph serve comes at you, the ball flys. When your shots go in they are not heavy or difficult to return. But you can produce a lot of spin and kick. I won last night with my RF97 and had to retire this racquet to my bag.

Comments: Switched to this racquet about two months ago from an ancient Head model. In my opinion, this racquet deserves more love than it's getting. I demoed just about every major racquet, and this one was far and away the best. It's a little whippy, but for players like me that like that, it's awesome. Perfect balance of weight and control for any shot I try to hit -- not seeing any of the control issues mentioned in the TW review. It's made me a better player from day 1. I highly recommend giving it a try. I'm a 4.5 doubles/sometimes singles player.

Comments: Only 2 weeks with this frame and I'm in love! I was looking to switch to something a little easier to use for my post-college-tennis days. Finding free pop but not too much. Great spin and stability at its weight too. Super fast through the air and just a nice all around racquet. For me, it sits somewhere between the Pure Drive and something like the RF97 or Pure Control Tour. I wouldn't say it does anything exceptionally but there aren't really any bad things either. I'm playing them stock with a leather grip and overgrip. Poly strings at 57 pounds (10 pounds higher than in my Prestige MPs).

Comments: I think this racquet is not getting the love it deserves. I think it strikes a perfect balance of power and control. It's super super fast and packs a really nice punch. Easy to control the pace too. I have always played with heavier racquets and was looking for something that would make things easier on me, the Instinct MP has "helped" my game in everyway. It's just solid all the way around. Serving with this racquet is an absolute blast. The only downside is that the "happytime" paint job makes me feel like I stole the racquet off a 12 year old girl, but when I crush serves and forehands, and carve nasty slices I can't complain. I strung it with Tourbite 17 at 45 lbs, added an overgrip and put some lead at 12o'clock to maintain the balance pt. Weighs 11.45, 5 pts headlight with a string dampner, overgrip, and lead. No stability issues, just a smooth feeling, solid racquet.
From:Max, 7/15

Comments: I really wanted to like this racquet. I played with it for three days against some heavy hitters and I must agree with the playtesters -- just not enough stability. It is a fast, whippy and a fun stick to play with but it did not give me enough confidence during matches. One could try to fix the stability and plow through issues with some led tape, but I decided not to take the risk and look somewhere else. I am a 4.5 baseliner.
From:Sal, 4/15

Comments: Very, very surprised by this racquet. Unbelievable pinpoint precision for such an open 16x19 pattern. Comfortable, quick through the air, power on demand, and a dwell time like no other racquet. You can really cup the ball and put it wherever you want -- I've hit some crazy winners where I was rushing to the net to pick up a drop shot, scraped it two inches from the ground, and put it over the net crosscourt, leaving my opponent baffled. I had Wilson Ripspin in my racquet, which also helped with the dwell time. I've added 10 grams in the handle and it stands at a 330 SW, 6 pts HL. This is no tweener, it's the real deal. By the way, I'm a 4.5 who plays mostly against 5.0s -- I win my fair share of sets with this stick.
From:Don, 4/15

Comments: I totally agree with the Tennis Warehouse review. This is a good all around racquet, but swings much lighter than its swingweight spec. It feels very headlight despite the polarized setup. I would add head tape and/or lead tape to this racquet. Otherwise, I was pleased with my demo. The cosmetic is wild -- it is a look you'll either love or hate.

Comments: I am a 4.0 baseliner with double handed backhand. The Instinct MP 2015 is very powerful during groundstrokes but still feels soft. If you have a long swing, you will definitely love this update. Serving is very stable, spin-friendly and powerful. Players with compact swings might have some control trouble because of the time that the ball staying on the string bed is quite longer then the previous version or most current sticks. Volleys and drop shots are amazing. Sharapova had huge improvements on her serve and forehand in Brisbane, and her hitting movement seems more natural and relax. My friend says Head Graphene XT Instinct MP is quite similar to Head pro tour 630 when playing. Great racquet!
