Learning to StringI purchased this reel for my High School son to learn and practice stringing a racquets. He strings his older racquets and lets younger kids in the rural area try out the sport of tennis.

Comments: Awesome string. Very slippery as a cross. I used it on the cross with natural gut mains. The mains remain straight no matter how hard I hit. After 6 hours, there's no signs of fraying at all. I prefer this string over other synthetic guts I tried like Gosen OG Sheep Micro, Head PPS, etc.

Comments: This string doesn't cost much. That's the only thing good about it. It lasts about one hour of playing and I don't have time to string everyday. I'm a 5.0 player with medium topspin. Even when I put it only in crosses, it is the first string to break. Don't waste your money on it.

Comments: The string Ashaway Liberty 16 gets the job done. They're good quality nylon string, crosses and mains at full tension.
From:Randy, Sacramento, CA , USA. 6/10

Comments:This is an excellent string for crosses when I use Ashaway Kevlar in the mains. It softens the kevlar and makes the entire string bed comfortable. I use this string with Forten Nylon 16 interchangeably based on the color I want in the crosses. I have used this string in the crosses for over 10 years and I never had problem with it.

Comments: I honestly felt that my arm was about to fall off after playing with this string tonight. My favorite frame felt like a stranger and I just couldn't adjust my game to make this string work. The balls wouldn't fly deep enough, I couldn't get any bite/spin, and my arm felt tender by the second set. I would rather watch people play tennis than hit with a fresh string job of Liberty. Buy a set and try it out for yourself. Try not to expect much, so you won't be let down.

Comments: Ashaway Liberty 16g is a soft synthetic gut string. It doesn't hold its tension that good and it only give me 2 hours of play before I break it. Ha, what you expect for cheap price string. I am a hard topspin 5.0 player using Prince Original Graphite 93 racket with tension of 58lb.
From:Quang, Long Beach, CA, USA, 05/09

Comments: These strings are the perfect alternative for turning kids (especially) and adults away from harsh strings that hurt their arm, hurt their variety, and dont work with their frame. Nice and sticky like wilson hollow core / nxt as you string it. All that wears off those strings in a few hours of real tennis too btw. I'd say it is most similiar to technifibresynth gut 16, which is great string. Tremendous value. Thanks TW, I think I'll stock up.

Comments: The only thing this string is good for, is to learning how to string a racket. I swear to you from day one this is the worst string I have ever played. I have the luxury of being able to put fresh strings in my racket every day, and I would still yet not play these dirt cheap strings. It is not as simple a matter as changing the tension to your liking. As a racket technician I have tried Prince Synthetic Gut Duraflex, Prince Premier, Lightning, Tournament Poly, Head Pps, Sonic Pro, Gamma Esp, Luxilon Alu Power, and Gosen Og Sheep Micro..etc. Ashaway Liberty felt like I was playing with a fishing scoop net. I took swings at a ball expecting it to bite, spin, and jump over the net as usual. OR AT LEAST RESPOND, I got no response out of these strings whatsoever. Instead, the ball would hit my strings and fall to the net as if I barely had hit the ball at all. If you like to hit with any precision whatsoever, I recommend absolutely anything over plain nylon, which is what this is.

Comments: I've found this string to be perfect for my choice of rackets (prince mono and mitt rocker 97) strung at 52lbs or less. I love the way I can control the ball, the durability is better than most of the others I have tried and the price is GREAT! I typically get about 10-12 hours out of a string and this is right there.
From:Brian, Roseburg, OR, USA, 05/08

Comments: This is the best value on the market for a 16 gauge string! This is the perfect choice if you string racquets for casual players who aren't particularly concerned with durability or playability. This string glides like butter through the mains. Durability and playability are a bit lower than Prince Duraflex or Wilson Synthetic Extreme, but even hard hitters should be able to squeeze 5 good hours out of a set of these.
From:G, OK, USA. 1/08

Comments: I have 2 racquets both the same tension - one with Live Wire 16, one with Liberty 16. This string is so good and so soft. I'm beginning to think my Gamma Live Wire doesn't make sense anymore.
From:Wksoh, Singapore, 02/07

Comments: I bought reels of these string. I actually prefer the Luxilon Big Banger strings or the Prince Synthetic Gut strings, but hey, I've saved a lot of money on this. Regarding tension, you may want to add a few extra pounds to your desired tension because the tension goes away very fast. Using string savers could help.
From: Anthony, Bandar, Brunei. 11/05

Comments: This string feels just as good as Prince or Head synthetic gut. It does not last that long though. If you string your own rackets it would be worth it but if you pay people to string your rackets then try something else.
From:Fred, Little Washington, Pennsylvania, USA 07/05

Comments: It’s a decent string. soft and cheap. But one negative I’ve noticed is that you have to be careful while stringing it because of a greater chance of fraying it while pulling through rough grommets. Overall it's ok, but if I could redo it I would have gotten a different cheap nylon.
From:Nick, Fargo, North Dakota, USA 06/05

Comments: Great string at an even better price. I have had problems with my elbow the last couple of months when I was using Prince Synthetic Gut with Duraflex and Babolat Super Fine Play. This string is more durable than superfine play and about the same as prince synthetic gut, but at a quarter of the price. I have used Ashaway Synthetic Gut also and this string plays almost the exact same maybe even a little better.
From: Matt, Eden Prairie, MN, USA. 06/04

Comments: Soft as butter, nice control and power. When stringing, pull the crosses slowly otherwise you will burn through the mains. I have played with BDE gut, Wilson Extreme Synthetic Gut and Prince Duraflex Synthetic Gut. The gut plays the best, but Ashaway Liberty comes quite close. I’m a 5.0 all court player
From: Don, Yardley PA, USA. 7/03

Comments: If on a scale of 1-10 and the BDE gut is a 10, then I give the Ashaway Liberty 16 an 8, the Wilson Extreme a 6.5, and the Prince SynGut a 5.For over all consideration of comfort and playability.... Durability is not an issue for me as I string my self and I don’t break strings very often anyway.I’m a 5.0 level all court player.
From: Don, Yardley, PA, USA. 6/03

Comments: This is my first time playing with this string. I am around 4.0. I don't have much money to spend so I thought I would give this string a try. I must say to my disappointment, the string is not what I hoped to be. But what can you expect based on the prices, right? You get what you pay for. I would not buy this string if you are looking for control and like to play with power. I would save up some money and pay a bit more for a really good string. By the way I also tried Gosen OG Micro 16 660' String Reel and is also have good economical prices, but surprisingly performs a lot better. It has control and power when string at 60lbs.
From: Ken, Hayward, CA, USA. 6/03

Comments: A nice value in string. It’s soft and easy on the arm, with good control. If you like Prince Synthetic Gut, you'll not like this string as it’s the exact opposite.
