One of the most popular shoes on the market just got even lighter, faster and more comfortable than ever before!

  • Upper: Brand new full length PU upper with Flexion Fit for increased support, comfort and flexibility. Personal Heel Fit technology locks in the back of the foot for better stability and fit.

Comments: The top part is so hard that it pushes my ankle and hurts.
From:Yeonjun, 5/10/19

Comments: The boney protrusion on the outside of the ankle is really hurting my ankles. Sadly I have to return these item.
From:Mai, 4/30/19

Comments: This is my first ever Asics tennis shoes. I got the Paris colorway which looks nice. Had been using Nike Vapor 9.5, Ballistec 1.5, adidas Feather 3, Ubersonic 1, Defiant Bounce, and New Balance 996v2 all my tennis life. I would say, Asics Solution Speed 3 is now my new favorite tennis shoes. I have a normal foot and it fits really well. It is indeed a narrow shoe so it isn't for the wide footers understandably. Cushion is also really plush and very comfortable, more plush than the Vapor and Defiant Bounce. Stability and support is also great due to the TPU upper and midsole shank, traction is also exquisite. The only thing I have to prove yet is durability, adidas are the most durable ones. Vapor 9.5 and New Balance 996 are not durable as the adidas & Ballistec 1.5. Ventilation is not that good though I agree, but I prioritize traction, fit, stability and durability than ventilation. I just ordered a 2nd pair and can't wait to have it and rock it.
From:Wendell, 12/4/18

Comments: Uncomfortable and harsh compared with the Gel Resolution. Low in the heel and hard on my Achilles, taking forever to soften up, can't recommend these.
From:Andre, 11/24/18

Comments: These are definitely my favorite pair of shoes. I used to be a firm believer in outsole durability shoes, using the several versions of the Adidas Barricade, but now I love lightweight shoes. The Solution Speeds feel so light and flexible on my feet, while also providing great cushioning and support. On the downside they started balding pretty quickly after I first got them, but that is the price you have to pay for speed.
From:Liam, 11/13/18

Comments: Amazing shoe! Very lightweight and fast feeling. The sole has great stability and I really like the feeling of the upper on my foot. That plastic thing on the sole does wonders for my extremely high arch. The upper is quite durable and does not have any tears or abrasions, but it is still breathable. I slide frequently on hard court and the soles are great for this kind of thing. The outsole is very durable and my shoe does not move around while I am doing so. I play 5 times a week, and these shoes are going strong for about 6 months. The only negative is that the Asics symbol on my inner feet starting peeling a week in because of my sliding.
From:Aaron, 9/13/18

Comments: I wanted to try Asics given the great TW reviews. However, these shoes do not provide adequate support in the heel or cushioning underneath the front and back part of the foot. The bottom of my feet hurt after playing in them for a couple of hours. The only positive is that the shoes are very light. I decided to stop playing in Asics and went back to adidas.
From:Tom, 3/25/18

Comments: I bought these shoes a few months ago. At first they were very tight around the toes. I loosened the bottom laces just a bit and problem solved. These shoes provide good lateral stability and are very light. So far they have been durable. I would buy them again.
From:Dan, 2/3/18

Comments: I love the Solution Speed 2, I have 2 pairs. A far as I'm concerned, they are a perfect tennis shoe. The Solution Speed 3 is not as comfortable right off the bat and the rubber upper is not as flexible. Other than that, they are similar. I can't say I like them as much as the Solution 2. I hope the next generation Solution Speed is more like the 2.
From:Joe, 1/9/18

Comments: Most of the comments are accurate. This shoe is pretty narrow (I have fairly wide feet), doesn't quiet breathe, and the side of my ankle (ball) rubs against the top where the tongue is. With that said, this shoe feels nicely cushioned in the soles, the heels feel soft, and my Achilles are well supported in the back. The overall shoe feels light, well built and flexes nicely with no need to break-in.Comparing these to the breathe cages, these are lighter, narrower, feel more sturdy and stable to the ground. Although they are a bit tight and don't breathe well, I like the snug feel and flex of the shoe making it feel like I'm not really wearing shoes. In addition, the bright green, in my opinion, look really cool.
From:Pat, 12/24/17

Comments: This shoe is horrible. I was the biggest Asics speed fan until this version. Toe box is narrow and rubs my pinky toes. It is hotter and the forefoot is not cushioned well. Please make the Speed 2 again.
From:Keith, 12/10/17

Comments: I have 5 or 6 pairs of the original Gel Solution Speed 1 and love them. I kept buying them when they went on sale as the wild colors would get phased out. Never got around to trying the 2. I just got my first 3 and I like them. The soles of the 3 seem a little stiffer, perhaps. The shoes seem a little higher on the sides than the 1 which is fine with me, but I think I read where someone has complained that it rubbed the bone on the side of their feet. The higher sides might give a little more support. And just by appearance I thought the shoe might be a little wider which worried me with my narrow foot but it wasn't a problem. The toe box is very much tapered which is great for a guy like me with "short" toes. My foot measures 10.5 when measured to the end of my toes, but is a size 12 when measured to the ball of my foot (the proper place to measure a foot I am told); this means basically that I have short toes. I buy size 12. When someone says a shoe has "plenty of toe room" I know I can't wear them, and that is why the Resolutions don't work for me. The narrower toe box of the Speed is great for me.
From:Paul, 11/21/17

Comments: Terrible update to the SS2. Too tight in the toe area. Had to go up 0.5 size vs. the SS2. More plastic covering your forefoot now -- you feel the difference playing in 100 degree hard courts. Back to Nike Cage 3. Very polarizing shoe.
From:Tommy, 11/13/17

Comments: Not happy with this shoe. Tight against the top of the foot and doesn't provide a comfy ride. I'd steer clear of this one.
From:Eddie, 10/31/17

Comments: I had worn the Nike Tour 9.5 Vapors for a few years as my "match day" shoe, but after becoming disheartened with their laughable durability (1 month max), I switched to the Speed 3. I couldn't be happier, the durability is almost twice good with the Asics shoe. Additionally, the newer Vapors have gotten too roomy in the forefoot, which is great for comfort, but problematic when trying to cut and move quickly on court. The slightly narrower fit of the Speed 3 helps my mobility on-court noticeably, my foot is more locked in and changing directions quickly is a snap. The Speed 3 could use a bit more ventilation, but the durability and fit outweigh that for me. I'll buy some more of these, most definitely.
From:BLB, 10/19/17

Comments: Not happy with this shoe. Pushes too tightly on upper foot, long, uncomfortable break-in period, blister potential, clunky. Recommend you pass on this version.
From:EMN, 10/8/17

Comments: The best shoe on the market. Period. I tried Barricades, Novak Pro, Ubersonics and there is nothing like this shoe. It will boost your mobility.
From:John, 9/14/17

Comments: I've always been an Asics fan, but apparently their quality is going downhill. And this shoe tells you why. It's horrible! Where as the previous Asics models are comfortable to wear, this one is so narrow and tight that it keeps rubbing on my big toe knuckle as well as the big toe. I stopped using them and just threw them away. I wish that Asics would review what they have been doing wrong lately, their shoes are no longer comfortable as before, which is why I used to love them in the first place.
From:Rommie, 9/11/17

Comments: I must say that this is a horrible shoe for me. It took weeks to break in and even now the toebox is so small and narrow that my toes are consistently bruised and calloused and I walk in pain after a match until I take them off. The second version of the shoe was much better. The first version was good. But this version is horrible. I'm certainly not going to enter any foot fetish competitions since my toes are so mangled.
From:Kevin, 9/2/17

Comments: My first pair of Asics ever and I couldn't be happier! I currently have 3 pairs of Vapor 9.5s, 2 pairs of Barricade 16s and a couple of Feather Lights and I like these shoes better than all of them! I only bought them for the looks but wow. A little tight in the toe box at first but loosened up quick and the Gel sole units add more cushion than all of them.
From:Steve, 8/31/17

Comments: The Speed 3 is heavier and stiffer than the Speed 2. I'm disappointed they discontinued the 2. I loved the Solution Speed 2!
From:Ricky, 6/24/17

Comments: I have been wearing Asics since 1987 and have loved every pair until this one. This shoe has a put blisters on my toes and the ankle arch is too high and pushes into my ankle. I kept telling myself that they would break in but have now given up. The shoes are horrible and I wish I could find the Gel Solution Speed I had before. They had less plastic and were a perfect fit from the moment I put them on.
From:David, 6/14/16

Comments: I have bought this model of shoes and worn them for a couple weeks now but only recently played in slightly warmer weather for a long duration. The shoes were pretty narrow as most others have been saying and I found that they were slightly long too. The shoes managed to give me blisters on my 5th toe. I will be trying go back to my Vapors until I get some Gel Resolutions. Won't be coming back to this shoe for the meantime.
From:Andrew, 5/20/17

Comments: I have wide feet and as many reviews state, the Speed 3 is much tighter in the toe box than the Speed 2. I thought I would give these a try as the Speed 2s are no longer available in my size. I can feel the shoe rubbing on my pinkie toe when I play. This was not apparent when I tried them on out of the box, but if you have wider feet, your pinkie toe is going to be uncomfortable. It was not super uncomfortable, but given the option, I'd buy the Speed 2. Asics, I love your shoes, but please make a wider toe box next time or at least give the option. I loved the Speed 2s though they did wear out a bit to quickly in my opinion. I am hoping for wider toe box next time for added comfort.
From:Eric, 5/18/17

Comments: I'm a loyal Solution Speed wearer, loved the 1s, even more so the 2s. Lots of improvements in the 3 over the 2 -- increased stability in the midfoot, increased cushioning in the forefoot, definitely a more "glove-like" fit. Like others have said, a more narrow toebox. I have an average foot with medium arches, and they rub against my 5th toes -- not painful, but I'd be aware of it. Ultimately I'm going to stop wearing these as I've noticed the shoes have started to turn my 5th toes inward and make subtle changes to the lateral side of my feet.
From:Rogue, 4/20/17

Comments: Terrible shoe. My son had them for less than 2 weeks and the sole started separating from the upper. TW replaced them due to this malfunction.
From:Chris, 3/17/17

Comments: Was a very loyal follower of the Speed 2 shoes. When the 3s came out and I read the bulk of the reviews, I ran out and bought up all the 2s I could find. I needn't have bothered -- I recently ran out of 2s and reluctantly bought a pair of the 3s.In a word, these shoes are outstanding! I have no idea what all the complaints about the size are all about. I wear an 11 D shoe and these fit perfectly. The new upper material may play a little hotter, but I'll take the added stability over the mesh any time. I plan on buying more. Great shoe!
From:Tom, 3/5/17

Comments: I totally agree with Mark. I had to order half a size bigger just to feel barely decent! Speed 1 and 2 by far were the best shoe Asics has made. The 3s are a disappointment. They are stiff and narrow. And the laces don't tie at the top at the top of the shoe like the previous models.
From:Jeff, 2/15/17

Comments: I have to give the 3s a thumbs down. I was a fan of the originals and the 2s. These don't do it for me. I have a narrow foot to begin with and the toe box is just too small and rigid. If I didn't wear Thor-Los I'd for sure have blisters on my pinky toes. They do fit like a glove but the flex and breathability of the uppers are gone. The uppers are too rigid and I feel like there is a break-in with these that never was needed with the prior Speeds. I can't recommend them to anyone who has worn the prior versions. It's simply not up to par with those shoes. The Ubersonic 2s are better than the Speed 3s in my opinion now. Same goes for the Head Nitro Pros. If the Vapors didn't wear out so quickly I'd throw them in here too, but for the money you pay for them they just don't hold up. So in summary, I would say go with Ubersonic 2s or Head Nitro Pros first. I have both of these shoes in my closet and they ride just as low and fast as the Speed 3's with a lot more comfort. Durability is about the same for all three. I won't buy another pair of Speed's until I read reviews that the shoe is back up to speed (pun intended) like the prior versions.
From:Mark, 2/4/17

Comments: I'm currently a 4.5 player and play mostly singles (minimum 3 times a week). I was in love with the Speed 2 and was skeptical about the new version. Well, after 3 pairs of Speed 3s, I can say that I just love them the same and maybe even a little bit more. I didn't feel like the 'glove' feeling was gone as some other people complained, and I really appreciate the added semi-rigidity around the toes as I feel it gives more stability. Top, top shoes.
From:David, 1/17

Comments: This shoe took a really long time to break-in for me. It seems to be made for a foot that pronates. But after break-in, they were ok. They lace up well to provide a good fit.
From:Bill, 1/17

Comments: I'll echo what others have said about this update. Unfortunately, coming from the originals and the Speed 2, Asics seems to have lost the identity of the speed series with the 3 because they tried to reinforce them and make them more durable but at the expense of comfort. The small rigid toe box is my biggest issue with these, though overall they feel more cumbersome. It's really a shame because I loved the originals and the 2s.
From:Nick, 1/16

Comments: Thumbs way down to Asics for this new version of the Solution Speed model. Significantly narrower fit and reinforcement around the toebox has totally ruined the glove-like feel of the earlier versions. With a bunion on one foot, this new version rubs and was not even comfortable to try on, let alone play. In a nutshell, the 3rd version isn't as good as the previous ones.
From:Larry, 12/16

Comments: As a light weight shoe, compared to the adidas Ubersonic, these have more support, and seem to sit higher. They are also marginally more narrow and slightly heavier. The adidas fit my feet better and are more comfortable but they provide less support and less traction. There was heel slippage with the Asics which almost made me return them, but I was able to fix that with using a butterfly lacing system. This is a solid shoe, but my favorite shoe still is the Nike Vapor Tour 9.5.
From:James, 12/16

Comments: I am currently a 4.5 level primarily singles player. I own three pairs of the original Gel Solution Speeds and the third and final pair is in need of replacement. I was hoping the Speed 3s would be a good replacement. As noted in other reviews, one of the changes in the Speed 3 is the inclusion of a semi rigid material surrounding the boney part of the outside of the ankle. For me, and apparently others, this change causes the shoes to rub and makes the shoes are extremely uncomfortable to play in. I did not notice the issue when trying on the shoes and walking around the house, but it became apparent almost immediately on the court. This issue would likely get worse instead of better as the insole breaks in thereby lowering the heel within the shoe. I am a size 11.5 B in dress shoes (e.g. Alden's) and have a medium to high arch and found the 11.5 to fit well.
From:Charles, 12/16

Comments: One of the best tennis shoes on the market. Great fit, support, and comfort. This is a second pair in a different color that I owe. Simply excellent.
From:Neal, 11/16

Comments: The Speed 3s are easily the best pair of shoes I have ever gotten. The Speed 3s combine the speed and lightweight feeling of the Vapor 9.5s and adds the stability of the Cages. This pair of shoes lasted me over 4 months which was amazing for shoes without a durability guarantee. For comparison, I've worn out the outsoles of the durability guaranteed Cages in the same amount of time.
From:Andy, 11/16

Comments: I'm a mature player at 36 and play approximately at the 4.5 level as an all court player (I don't skid around a great deal). I have a medium width foot and flat arch. These are the best shoes I've ever had (I've worn them for about 4 matches so far). I've come from a long line of 4 generations of Barricades and then the mistake of Vapor 9.5 Tour. They have the comfort and stability of Barricades, but are less clunky for sure. Great balance of support vs cushion. Zero break in time. I'd love to wear them outside of tennis given the chance. The only downside is that they do run a little hot.
From:WL, 11/16

Comments: This is the 5th pair of Solution Speeds that I have purchased from TW. The Speed 3s are slightly narrower in the toe box than the Speed 2s, and with the change in materials used for the uppers, they run a bit hotter than the Speed 2s. The Speed 3s are still an outstanding shoe, light weight, comfortable and would recommend them without reservation.
From:Tom, 10/16

Comments: I recently bought the Asics Gel Solution Speed 3s. I really loved the 2s and have owned at least 4 pairs of those. As a number of the reviews note, the 3s have been changed in a few ways. The problem I've found with them is a binding/rubbing/pressure point on the lateral side (outside) of my ankle at the lateral malleolus (the boney protrusion on the outside of the ankle). Asics changed the material on the shoe here and the new material seems thicker and the way it is formed it is more rigid around the opening of the shoe. I'm not optimistic this material will break in or become softer as it's a rather stiff plastic/rubber and doesn't seem to have much give to it. Sorry to say, these are not nearly as comfortable as the previous model. I won't buy another pair of 3s. Hope they fix it. I found a pair of 2s online and bought those. Maybe they will last until Asics changes this model again. Otherwise I'm back to the hunt for a better shoe.
From:WM, 9/16

Comments: For those Speed Solution 2 (SS2) lovers I have to tell you that this SS3 shoes have more cushion. The SS2 breathes more but I don't see the inconvenience and yes, they are more narrow than the SS2 but I also don't think it is a huge difference. Overall go ahead and try these shoes.
From:Juan, 9/16

Comments: I heard good things about Asics Gel Solution Speed 2, and I needed tennis shoes right away when I moved into a new home. I ordered this without reading through the reviews. Unfortunately, I had my right angle bone rubbed so much with this shoes. I thought that this is a breaking-in problem, but after wearing this shoes more than two weeks (lots of walking and playing many tennis games) does not break in the shoes yet. I often buy my tennis shoes for my "walking" shoes as well as for playing tennis. I don't recommend these shoes if you also wear tennis shoes for daily life. I could not walk with this shoes on because of the pain beneath my ankle bone. Playing a couple of tennis games with this shoes on was bearable but I don't see the point of paying 100 dollars with my shoes rubbing against my ankle bone so painfully.
From:JM, 9/16

Comments: After reading reviews of this iteration of the Asics Gel Solution Speed I was very worried these were not going to live up to the first and second versions (which are the best tennis shoes out there in my book). Luckily, most of the negative reviews seem, at a minimum, a little exaggerated and I have not had problems with rubbing against my ankle bone. The fit is not truly narrow, it is simply a little closer to neutral compared to the slightly wide previous versions. The ventilation is not so much reduced as to make the shoe feel much hotter at all (and I play in 90+ degree heat). There is a very slight increase in stability from the additional upper material, but the shoe feels the same as previous versions otherwise. Since I sprint around the court and up to the net quite a bit, these are still perfect for me and maybe even a marginal improvement over the previous version.
From:Ian, 7/16

Comments: These shoes are great and the best I've had yet. I have a tourny coming up this saturday and really needed shoes (I've been playing in regular sneakers) and these are great. I have a wide food and there is only minimal rubbing on pinky. I was really worried by the video but they're great. I had to ditch my adidas Barricade 7 Novaks because my heels just couldnt take them. They would hurt so bad so I ditched them. These are the best shoes I've had would buy them over any Nike or adidas any day!
From:Mason, 7/16

Comments: Agree with James, below. Loved the Speed 2s. Got scared initially by reviews saying this version was so narrow. Played in them once and they are were just fine after that. In a way more stable with the more reinforced exterior, but still for me the best performing shoes out there in terms of light-but-comfy speed shoes. One knock is that the shoes can be hot, don't breathe. I poked some tiny holes through the mesh up top, easy to do, and presto, feet not so hot anymore. I'd still recommend these shoes. Not perfect, but the closest I've found from the current crop of what's out there.
From:Josh, 7/16

Comments: Based on the video review, I was worried this shoe was going to be too narrow for my slightly wider foot. But, the shoe fit great. After playing for 45 minutes, it was very comfortable and fit perfect. Great match day shoe.
From:James, 6/16

Comments: Sorry to say these didn't work at all for me. I've got 6 hours of on court wear, and they are still tearing into the skin right below the medial side of my ankles. They also really pinch my pinky toes. I thought it might be a break-in issue, so I would let my skin heal and try them again, but I just can't go another round. It's too bad because I loved the Solution Speed 2s. They had just eclipsed the Nike Zoom Vapor Tour 9.5 as my favorite shoe. I love the way the Vapors fit my narrow foot, but the durability is abysmal (I'm lucky to get 4 weeks out of them -- roughly 12 hours per week). The Solution Speed 2s had the same great fit and lightweight feel as the Vapors, but the rubber on the bottom didn't wear out as fast; even when the treads looked worn, the quality of the rubber still gave me great traction. For now the search continues, and I'm stuck with these nearly new Speed 3s that are prohibitively uncomfortable to wear.
From:Court, 3/16

Comments: Best "game day" shoe I've ever played in. Lightweight with ample support and cushioning. Not as much cushioning as some heavier shoes out there (like the Resolution), but this is an amazing shoe. Some folks have complained that this fits too narrow. I have a medium foot and it was slightly tight out of the box, but it only took an hour or two of wear to loosen up to the perfect width. Any wider and my foot would slide around a bit. All time favorite shoe!
From:D, 3/16

Comments: Excellent update. The 2s felt hard and flat in the forefoot, and I couldn't wait to get them off after hitting. The 2s also felt too loose and roomy in the toe box. The 3s fit better in the forefoot and have better cushion in the forefoot so my feet don't get sore and fatigued like they did in the 2s. So-so on the colors, but the performance of the shoes gets an "A."
From:Anonymous, 3/16

Comments: Terrible update. They now fit smaller in length and narrower width. Playing in the South Florida heat, this update makes the foot heat up quickly especially in the darker blue. In the SS2 I wore a 9 -- now I have to go up half a size. This shoe is no longer my first choice. But until Nike or adidas bring out a fast, light clay shoe, it's back to the SS2 Clay.
From:Justin, 2/16

Comments: One major difference between the Gel Solution Speed 3 and the Gel Solution Speed 2 is that the polyurethane (PU) material around the 3 gives it more stability than the 2. The mesh on the 2 felt less stable as my foot would swim around because of the stretchy mesh material. That being said, the 3 felt tight/cramped in the toe box area because of the PU material and the 2 felt more accommodating because of the mesh material. Both shoes felt light and I was able to slide on the hard court with both shoes (a good thing most of the times.) Overall, a good shoe for those with narrow feet.
From:TU Tennis, 2/16

Comments: What happened!? Oh no Asics -- why? The shoe looks better and is also very similar so I was excited to try the update. The Solution Speed 1 and 2 are speedy, fast and feel like running shoes. Like nothing else on the market. This update feels a bit clunkier. They feel mushy. And not sure why, but they feel heavier and flat as well as shorter and tighter. The last versions were already on the edge in that department. I'll be stocking up on the Solution 2s.
From:Stephen, 2/16

Comments: A very good update to the Speed 2. It is definitely hot during play, since the material does not breathe unlike the 2. They feel narrower in the forefoot because the upper is less forgiving, not because it is a narrower shoe. I have a narrow foot and they fit perfectly. This would not be a good shoe for anyone with a wide foot. The Speed 2 could accommodate people with different width feet, but this is not as stable, since the upper stretches with movement. The bottom line -- I like the Speed 2 for general use, tennis and around town. The Speed 3 is a better shoe for game day tennis if you have a narrow foot. It is very light, quick and cushioned.
