With the YOUTEK iteration of Instinct, HEAD incorporates d3o into the layup of this historically versatile racquet. This "smart material," HEAD says, reacts to your shot. On hard hit balls, the d3o molecules lock together to create a stiffer frame for more power. On slice shots or drop shots, the molecules absorb the impact to provide better touch. This YOUTEK Instinct lives up to its roots as a racquet with a wide appeal and features some familiar specs: 100 sq in headsize, 18x19 string pattern, head light balance and 11 ounce strung weight. For intermediate players, there's plenty of power, and for big hitters, there's also enough control. Our TW playtesters found they could take advantage of short balls and put away the ball with speed and accuracy. From the baseline, we found racquet head speed easy to generate so spin was easily on tap when needed. We found the maneuverability to be a bonus at net with the Instinct reacting with good feel and comfort. All in all, this YOUTEK Instinct is a must demo for the intermediate to advanced level player.
