The 1995 US Open was one of the most anticipated in years, with all eyes on the comeback of fan favorite Monica Seles, who won the tournament in 1991 and 1992. In April 1993, she was stabbed on court during a match in Hamburg, Germany. Gone from the game for more than two years, Seles returned to competitive play only one month before the 1995 US Open. With her return it meant that the winners of the previous three US Opens --- Seles (1992), Steffi Graf (1993) and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario (1994) -- would be vying for the singles title. In the end, it came down to Graf and Seles in the final. It would be the first time the two had faced each other since the final of the 1993 Australian Open, and the match did not disappoint.
