Overview

For 2022 Tecnifibre updates the Tempo 298 Iga with a new cosmetic but keeps the specs and outstanding playability of the original model. Endorsed by rising WTA phenom Iga Swiatek, this stick delivers a great combination of speed, precision and spin. Weighted for intermediate players, the Tempo 298 is tad lighter than a typical modern player's racquet, making it one of the speedier racquets in its class. It should also satisfy more advanced ball strikers who want easy acceleration or a platform for customization. Notable technologies include Dynacore  XTC, a unique material that helps reduce harsh vibrations. Tecnifibre has also filled portions of the racquet with foam to create a more solid and comfortable hitting experience. From the baseline, the Tempo 298 IGA offers a crisp and lively response with easy targeting on full swings.  Like the best modern player's racquets, this stick accelerates with explosive speed, making it easier for you to generate pace and spin. Although not as heavy and stable as a traditional player's racquet, the Tempo 298 IGA feels solid for its weight while also offering advanced players plenty of room for weight customization. At net, this racquet comes around extremely fast, making it great on reaction volleys. The Tempo 298 IGA also shines on serve where you'll find enough spin and pop to put your opponent squarely on defense. Ultimately, with this light player's racquet, Tecnifibre has produced an impressive weapon for a wide range of players and ability levels.
Swingweight changed to 325 on 3.13.24 based on additional samples measured.

Stiffer version of the Whiteout 305This is genuine pro level racquet. I have one of these as a complement to my Solinco Whiteout 305 XTD 16x19's. It plays the same, just a bit more stiff and powerful (I extended it 0.5" to match the Solinco XTD length). It is very stiff but after an initial painful adjustment period of about three hitting sessions, I now play it without any pain. It has the same "Pro Staff" open 16x19 string patterns as the Whiteout does (mains skip 7T, 9T, 7H, 9H), which to me allows huge spin but also flat shots, so I think of it--as I do the Whiteout--as a more modern take on the Pro Staff (I long ago used the Pro Staff RF97, which is far less forgiving). When you want it to be, it is a spin monster. The Whiteout (RA 67) has a bit more forgiveness and pocketing, the IGA 298 (RA 71) has a bit more power, but they are switchable rackets and I can play them interchangeably in the same match with no problem. Right now, I have my IGA 298 strung with 4G Soft mains at 53 lbs and Velocity MLT crosses at 51 lbs, which provides all the spin I need and offers a reasonable compromise between comfort, power, and control. I'm a 4.5, OHB, topspin all-courter.

Unique racquetI read a lot of "pundit" reviews and I disagree with most of them. First, this racquet is for both adult men and women, but I think this would be a great racquet for high level juniors. This racquet feels short so it's easy to maneuver. Unlike the specs and what experts say, this racquet is quite head light, but it is still a well balanced racquet. It is also a stiff (very stiff by my standard) racquet so it lacks in the feel category. Because it is light you can get pushed around by a strong player unless you're hitting in the sweet spot. Lastly, this whippy racquet is a spin monster in stock form if you have the technique to hit big topspin. I play with the Dunlop CX200 Tour which is almost a complete opposite (particularly in feel and stiffness) of this racquet, but this Iga racquet is one of the few modern stiff racquets that is unique enough for me to keep.

Fantastic racket - highly recommendBought this Iga Swiatek racquet for my 12 year old daughter, who has been playing tennis regularly for 6 years now. It’s a fantastic racquet, she loves it. Her game has improved tremendously.

Comments: Fantastic frame - my favorite Tecnifibre stick. I'm a 5.0 male player and used to use the Technifibre XTC 320, but after they discontinued it I've been using the TF40 315, which is a great stick, but I always wished they made it in 16x19. Sometimes, it's a little tough to use on an off day, harder to generate spin and depth. I normally don't like to mess with frames that are sub-315 grams as I hate customizing, but this stick is really an unbelievable blend of control, spin and power, and such a solid feel for a lighter racquet. It's a pretty open 16x19, but it was not over-powered at all; I was surprised at the amount of control I got. I much preferred this racquet to the TFight 305 and 315 - the 305's have such a weird balance and the 315 was too powerful and a bit sluggish. This frame has that beautiful Tecnifibre feel, but is super quick to swing yet comes with a great blend of power, spin and control. I added a leather grip and a bit of lead in the throat and at 3 & 9 and now it's a total beast. Highly recommended.
