The Wilson Steam 96 rewards groundstrokes with a very high degree of control, useful power and a maneuverable feel. A slightly extended length and open 16x20 string pattern not only help the player produce added spin, but also allow aggressive players to load the ball with a little extra pace. From the baseline our TW playtesters discovered high precision thanks to the crisp response. The easy access to spin made it possible to find targets even on the most aggressive swings. At 11.1 ounces strung, the Steam 96 provides enough maneuverability for stronger intermediates and advanced players to explode through contact. The higher swingweight (330 RDC) and even balance provides sufficient stability on all but the most powerful exchanges. At 27.25 inches this racquet gives the player great leverage on serves. This fact was not lost on our playtesters who settled into very confident serving during our month-long review. Best suited to the 4.0+ player who wants a spin-friendly racquet that provides exceptional accuracy from all areas of the court.
