Stringing information for Dunlop Aerogel 4D 200 (2Hundred) Racquet: Tension range 55 to 65 pounds, optimum 60 pounds.

Building on the success of the Aerogel 200, Dunlop has added 4D technology to the mix. The 4 directional braiding adds strength and stability at key points of the racquet while maintaining touch and feel. This only adds to the already solid feel of the Aerogel 200. On court we found the weight of the Aerogel 4D 200 to provide a solid feel with good control stemming from the tight string pattern. From the baseline, the racquet was very stable, providing good plough through, helping off center hits stay on line. At net, there is more of the same. Good stability while offering nice touch for the more delicate volleys. It provides a good balance of punch and depth control. While offering good control on serve with the 18/20 string pattern, we also noticed the ability to produce some spin. A great option for the advanced all-court player as the Aerogel 4D 200 is effective from all areas of the court. Recommended for the 4.5+ NTRP player.

Aerogel is the world's lightest solid. It has strength up to 4,000 times its own weight. Aerogel's nanometer-sized molecular network delivers an unmatched strength to weight ratio for enhanced stiffness and power. Aerogel racquets offer incredible power with touch and feel without compromising weight.

4D stands for 4 directional braiding.

It is contructed using four braided fibres of superlight S-glass fiber wrapped in an aluminum alloy sheath.

The fibres are aligned at 0, 90, 22 and-22 orientations which enables stresses to be supported in multi-directions whereas standard carbon sheets are only orientated in one direction. This means that one layer of 4D material has the equivalent properties to four layers of standard carbon layed up at orientations. Consequently 4D material is four times more effective than standard carbon. Furthermore, by using one layer, 4D is also softer and less bulky than 4 layers of carbon.

At 5 and 7 o'clock the multi-directional properties of the 4D braided cloth help stabilize the torsional twist at key points of the racquet.

At 3 and 9 o'clock one layer of 4D braided cloth provides the torsional stability previously only achievable with several layers of carbon fibre. As a result of only one layer being used instead of several this softer material also provides superb touch and feel at ball contact.
