Spin. Power. Precision

Babolat updates the Pure Drive VS with a new name and material technology. Named the Pure Drive 98, this speedy racquet gives experienced players a dangerous combination of spin, power and precision. What separates it from the standard Pure Drive is a slightly smaller head size along with a thinner, more flexible beam. The upshot is a racquet that not only gives you a more "connected feel" but also delivers a more precise and predictable launch angle. For this update, Babolat reinforces the perimeter of the head with its HTR System, resulting in a more torsionally rigid construction for added stability and power. To help soak up the harsher vibrations, Babolat puts SWX Pure Feel in the shaft. Additional features include FSI Power Technology, which optimizes the grommet system and string spacing for higher energy return and extra RPMs (think heavy ball).  Ultimately, the Pure Drive 98 is a great option for experienced players who want a powerful and spin-friendly racquet with enough control to target the lines.

Babolat Pure Drive 98 Racquet does the job!I have had my Babolat Pure Drive racquet for years. Nadal is one of my favorite tennis players! This Pure Drive racquet was on sale so I thought it would be a great second racquet. Now, I prefer it over my other Babolat racquet! My old racquet is strung for the prevention of tennis elbow. I had this racquet strung with the free string at 60 and it has the power and drive I have needed to up my game at age 67. The only thing I caution is that your form needs to be good. But, when you're set for a good shot, you're going to make it! I am very happy with my purchase.

Great but not my typeI tested a lot of racquets and have a few in my collection. This one just looked great, but taught me a lesson. I like racquets that are six or more points headlight. Therefore I returned this for a full credit after swinging it around but it taught me a good lesson… so although I do not use it I give it five stars for pointing me in the direction of a racquet that I’m happy with… Currently use a Wilson 97” Ultra V4 (11.4 with six points headlight and a thinner beam.) This Compliments my Yonex VCore 95 inch headlight racquet and a new Wilson clash light for those days when my arm and shoulder are sore

Good but like the original betterBeen playing Pure Drives for eight years. Wanted to try the smaller head size in hope it would give me a crisper feel on my volleys. And it did! However when I switched to the 98 I lost a lot of the spin I normally create. Overall good racquet but I went and bought another two originals instead

Great racquet for intermediateAfter demo’ing six other comparable racquets based on TW recommendations and some YouTube video reviews, I chose the Babolat Pure Drive 98. Disclaimer: I did not rate this racquet a 5 because I have not played enough with it, but so far it’s great. I strung it with Solinco Tour Bite 17 at 53. Ground strokes feel great and balls go deeper into the court. Serves are strong with great spin. However, at the net I feel like the racquet is slightly unstable. Most likely user error, but this could change the more I play with the racquet. Overall, I highly recommend this racquet.
