Head was founded by Howard Head in 1950 and originally started out as a skiing manufacturer. It quickly saw major success, making them the leading ski manufacturer in the United States. In 1968, Head decided to branch out into other sports; tennis was one of them. They introduced the first tennis racquet in 1969, and it was the first aluminum tennis frame.
