Nike Lunar Vapor 8 Tour Shoe Review

Chris and Spencer took the latest Nike Vapor, the Lunar Vapor 8 Tour out for a month-long playtest. This video review concludes their testing.

On the comfort front, both guys were fans of the Lunar Vapor 8 Tour. Chris found out of the box comfort and a wider fit compared to previous Vapors. Enjoying the full-length Lunar cushioning system, he added a thicker aftermarket insole and wore two pairs of socks to improve the fit.

With his medium width feet, Spencer found the shoes to fit like a glove, offering a supportive, secure ride right from the first wear. One thing he noticed, and was really impressed by, was the lacing system. Attached to support straps which go completely around the foot, the lacing system allowed him to find a customizable level of support by simply adjusting the tension of the laces. Spencer found that feature to provide excellent support in the midfoot, with the Flywire adding even more support.

Chris was in agreement, finding plenty of support once he had the fit sorted out. He liked the combination of flex when pushing off his toes for a quick sprint and the lateral support of the Flywire system. That combination had Chris finding some solid foot speed and he was moving with confidence.

Traction was up to par with the fast feeling uppers of the Lunar Vapor 8 Tours. Chris found an ideal level of hard court traction, with enough give for safety yet all the tack needed for quick starts and stops.

Spencer found the flex points in the shoe to provide an excellent contact patch with the court. The XDR took over from there, backing up its reputation of good tack and he experienced no slipping issues for the duration of the test.

Chris has tested every version of the Vapors with Spencer testing the last four iterations. Both guys enjoyed this latest version. Although the fit was a little too wide for Chris, he found this one to bring a high level of on court performance, comfort and ventilation. For Spencer, the Lunar Vapor Tour 8 combines the best aspects of the last three version to make this one his favorite so far. Considering the level of comfort, fit, support and performance of this latest Vapor -- plus the light 13.5-ounce weight (men's size 10.5) -- this shoe was Spencer's favorite playtest of 2011.

Overall, both of our testers enjoyed playing in the Lunar Vapor 8 Tours immensely. Bringing a high level of on court performance, the latest in Nike shoes technologies and killer style, the Lunar Vapor 8 Tour keeps it place as one of the leading speed oriented shoes available.
