Triple Threat Graphite Racquet Review
The Triple Threat Graphites are the "player's" triplets of the Triple Threat racquet family. The Graphite is the only Triple Threat racquet that comes in three head size (95, 100, and 107 sq. in). Like triplets, the different head sizes all share similar traits, yet they all have their own unique playing characteristics. Scroll through the complete specs, playtests and customer comments.
Triple Threat Graphite Midsize
Each one the TT Graphites plays a little differently, but the Midsize (95) really stands apart. While similar to the Graphite Classic (Original) Mid, the TT Graphite Mid provides a slightly more cushioned response, swings a little heavier (despite being lighter overall), and packs a bit more punch. The Triple Braid of copper/titanium/graphite in the upper shoulders adds to the racquet's stability and swingweight, making the TT Graphite Mid more stable but less maneuverable than the Graphite Classic Mid.
The TT Graphite Midsize is the only TT Graphite that is 27 inches long. Both the Mid Plus and the Oversize are 27.5 inches long. The shorter length of the Midsize helps give it a little more control and maneuverability compared to the longer Mid Plus and Oversize TT Graphites.
Groundstrokes are predictable and controlled, while volleys are crisp and stable. It's easy to generate substantial racquet head speed with the TT Graphite Mid, so serves and overheads can be hit with confidence and authority. For players looking to step up in comfort without losing frame feedback, the Triple Threat Graphite Mid is worthy of a closer look in a traditional player's racquet.
Triple Threat Graphite Midplus
Although only 5 square inches larger and 1/2 inch longer, the TT Graphite Midplus plays dramatically different than the Midsize. There is more power and enhanced cushioning - it's sort of the "big easy" of tweener racquets. The extended length, combined with Triple Braid weighting results in a heftier swinging racquet than the Mid. Fortunately, overall weight is only 11.5 ounces, so the Graphite Midplus can still be wielded easily by most intermediate-advanced players.
From the baseline, medium to medium-fast swings will be most rewarded. No need to force shots with this racquet - just relax and let it swing! At net, the TT Graphite Midplus is powerful, stable and comfortable, but not as nimble as some other tweener racquets. We quickly found best results with compact volleys at net. The racquet provides the power - just setting the racquet yields plenty of pace and depth, and requires less time and effort. Serving with the TT Graphite Midplus produces a "heavy" ball. It's just as easy to hit the rocket up the middle or a high kicker to the backhand. If you're seeking a super-mid racquet that provides a little more power than control and a comfortable, stable response, you should give the Triple Threat Graphite Midplus a try.
Triple Threat Graphite Oversize
Although it's the largest of the TT Graphites, the Oversize isn't necessarily the most powerful. It's slightly lighter (statically and dynamically) than the Midplus, and the 107 headsize is well-proportioned along the 27-1/2 inch frame. This makes the Oversize easier to swing but power seems about equal to the Midplus. It's responsive during fast-paced groundstroke rallies and easy to maneuver at net but retains a solid, stable feel. A good choice for all-court singles players or doubles specialists. Serving with the TT Graphite Oversize is predictable - it has adequate power and impressive spin due to the oversize head and open string pattern. Players who want all the benefits of the Triple Braid weighting but with a larger sweetspot will enjoy the Triple Threat Graphite Oversize.
