Summary

All-court players looking for a racquet that's easy to maneuver and has a comfortably crisp feel should keep reading. While our playtesters' opinions varied somewhat when it came to accessing power and spin, the fast and precise feel of Tecnifibre's TFight 305 Dynacore was apparent to all. Unfortunately, the same lack of mass that made the TFight 305 Dynacore so maneuverable also made it less solid and stable against harder hitting opponents. However, the TFight 305 Dynacore proved itself to our playtesters by offering consistency, control and comfort in an easy to swing package.

Groundstrokes - Score: 83

Our playtesters found the TFight 305 Dynacore very easy to swing and very precise, although it lacked a bit of punch for consistently generating really punishing groundstrokes. Tiffani also enjoyed the comfortably crisp feel. She said, "I have been playing with the TFight 315 Dynacore racquet a lot lately, so I was happy to try out another stick in the line. What I like about both racquets is the firm yet comfortable response. With this racquet I felt accurate on both forehands and backhands, and I particularly enjoyed hitting cross court backhands. I wasn't getting as much topspin as I did with the slightly heavier 315g version. Although the TFight 305 is lighter, the TFight 315 feels like it swings faster -- plus the tighter stringbed on the 305g may have limited my topspin. I did, however, feel like I could hit knifing slice shots when given the chance. This racquet had more control than power, and when I was out of position I hit more balls short."

Like Tiffani, Brittany played with the TFight 305 Dynacore and the TFight 315 Dynacore. She said, "I tested the TFight 315 first, so I was interested to see how this lighter version would compare. When I first started hitting I found both of them to be more control oriented, but I found the 305 to have more easily accessible power. One thing that I was surprised to find out was that the 305 has a 95 square inch headsize (versus the 98 square inch head size on the 315). It didn't feel different, and I thought the sweetspots were similarly sized. This racquet was very maneuverable, and it was very easy to generate racquet head speed. I was able to get into a groove when rallying from the baseline, with good height and depth, but it didn't translate as well during match play, and I found myself missing more shots than I would have liked."

Jason liked how easily this racquet swung, but he didn't feel like that translated into enough spin potential for his aggressive forehands. He explained, "I enjoyed the ease with which I was able to swing this racquet. It was great for generating racquet head speed and putting additional spin on my shots, which was needed because I felt like the spin potential was only average. According to my PlaySight data, I was getting about 1000 RPMs on my forehand with this racquet, which was noticeably lower than with my own. I did feel like I had good control over my shots and could place the ball where I wanted with relative ease."

Mark was able to play his solid and consistent baseline game very comfortably with the TFight 305 Dynacore. He raved, "For my first hitting session with this racquet I brought both this and my current racquet of choice (a slightly modified Wilson Six.One 95S) down to the court, but I was feeling so dialed in with the TFight 305 Dynacore that I never once looked over at my own racquet. Even with its denser 18x19 string pattern and its 95 square inch head, I was able to keep the ball inside the lines consistently with varying amounts of pace and spin. The extremely solid feel when I hit my backhand slice was the highlight of the groundstroke portion of this test."

Volleys - Score: 81

Once again, precision and maneuverability were the two standout features of the TFight 305 Dynacore around the net, but most playtesters wished for a little more heft so it could stand up to harder hit shots a little better. Brittany was volleying effectively but noticed this racquet's instability at times. She offered, "The maneuverability of the TFight 305 Dynacore allowed me to get my racquet into position with ease. I could punch volleys deep with very little effort, and I could soften my hands for a short touch shot if needed. I was looking for a tad more stability when trying to reflex hard hit balls because I could feel the racquet fluttering in my hand at times."

Sharing a similar opinion was Jason, who said, "Even though I appreciated the maneuverability and low swingweight, it definitely felt like this TFight 305 Dynacore got pushed around on volleys. I really would've liked to have added some lead tape to the hoop to help with that."

Tiffani was not the biggest fan of this racquet up at net. She said, "This racquet was a middle of the road performer for me at net. It didn't do me any huge favors, but I didn't feel hindered by it, either. I admittedly am not the most confident volleyer, and when I was hesitant or when I missed the sweetspot I paid the price with some instability."

On the other hand, Mark once again felt dialed in and effective during this playtest. He praised, "Just like from the baseline, I benefited from the maneuverability of the TFight 305 Dynacore racquet at net. I was able get it into position in time, and the tighter pattern helped sponge up the pace of all but the strongest of passing shots."

Serves - Score: 81

Most of our playtesters were able to place their serves well with the TFight 305 Dynacore. However, the lack of weight made power hard to come by. Jason was using placement well to hurt his opponents during his service games. He said, "It was easy to get a high percentage of serves in with this racquet, but it was tough to generate much pace. I was relying more on the placement of my serves to start off points in an offensive position, but that was fine because this racquet provided very good control. I found the spin to be about average."

Tiffani also found it fairly easy to serve with the TFight 305 Dynacore, especially for one of her favorite serves. She said, "I liked how I was serving with this racquet. When I timed everything right I could hit with good power and spin, and more often than not it was when I was hitting a slice serve. I generally struggle with hitting precise targets on serve, but the control level was high enough that I was controlling direction better than usual."

Mark felt good serving with this racquet in hand, and offered, "This racquet's unique blend of specs afforded me a bit more confidence on serve relative to other racquets I have tested recently."

Brittany never found herself getting fatigued when serving with this racquet, but she did wish for a little easier access to pace. She shared, "It was easy to get this racquet going, and I could maintain power throughout an entire hit. Whether I was playing a singles set or just practicing my serves, my arm never felt fatigued. I found myself slicing a lot of my serves into the body for free points. There was enough spin on my second serve but I would have liked a tad more control, and most of my second serves were aimed into the body. Overall, I felt like my serves were just missing a bit of weight behind them, and they sat up for my opponent a little too often."

Returns - Score: 82

Our playtesters' favorite shot to hit with the TFight 305 Dynacore proved to be the return of serve, where the maneuverability and precision made it easy to deflect harder hit serves back to effective locations in the court. Mark was dialed in with both his offensive and defensive returns. He said, "I do not practice my serve return nearly enough, so if I have an issue with a racquet, this is usually the area it shows up. This racquet allowed me to take a more aggressive cut at the ball, while my backhand slice return was as good as it gets (for me)."

Tiffani actually thought the low-powered response worked well for her return game, allowing her to take aggressive cuts with confidence. She said, "I didn't struggle with the lower power level on returns as much as I did when I was hitting groundstrokes. I actually liked trying to use that control to my advantage, and I went to my chip return more often than I usually do. I still primarily hit through the ball on my returns, and the lower power level allowed me to really attack the ball."

Jason got his favorite returns clicking, saying, "I wasn't missing the lack of plow through as much on my returns. For some reason, I was able to consistently hit with more depth. One of my favorite returns to hit was on the ad side, where I'd run around my backhand and hit the ball down the line. I was able to do that effectively with this racquet. Could the TFight 305 Dynacore use more power? Yes. But it was not as necessary on returns, in my opinion."

This was another area where Brittany felt a little more weight would've helped her stand up to harder hitters. She critiqued, "I would have liked more stability and more control on my returns. I wasn't as confident as I would have liked, and I started points off in a neutral position after a lot of my returns. I felt like this racquet was missing a little weight and was getting pushed around against bigger servers. However, the maneuverability was fantastic, and I never felt late. I could generate plenty of power when returning second serves."

Likes

Tiffani- "I liked the control. I could angle off my shots really well and with confidence. I also liked hitting my backhand slice with this racquet."

Jason- "The TFight 305 Dynacore is very easy to swing, and it has good control from all areas of the court."

Mark- "This was one of the first racquets from Tecnifibre that I really loved. The improved grommet system gave it a real solid feel at contact, and this racquet really suited my style of play. I found the TFight 305 Dynacore to be lively, versatile and stable -- a great all-court racquet."

Brittany- "The TFight 305 Dynacore is easy to use, and I was surprised that it was so easy to adjust to. This racquet was fast and maneuverable, and I liked its power level."

Dislikes

Tiffani- "I prefer a livelier racquet, so it was hard for me to hit with depth consistently off the baseline."

Jason- "The TFight 305 Dynacore lacks power and plow through, and it can get pushed around against bigger hitters."

Mark- "I'm being picky, but I may have enjoyed it even more with just a little bit more weight."

Brittany- "I would have liked a tad more control and stability."

Comparing the racquet to others they've tried, our testers said:

Tiffani- "The TFight 305 Dynacore reminded me of the old Dunlop Aerogel 4D 300 Tour. The TFight 305 Dynacore might offer a little bit more power, but they both have a firm, comfortable response with lots of control. It's also like a slightly heavier, more powerful and firmer playing Volkl Super G 10 (295g)."

Jason- "The TFight 305 Dynacore has similar playing characteristics to the Volkl Super G 10 295g racquet, with a lower-powered response."

Mark- "I feel like Tecnifibre's TFight 305 Dynacore is somewhat unique in the marketplace. It has a weight and beam stiffness similar to all the modern frame types, but it has a more traditional head size and string pattern. It's a well thought out blend of old school and new school. As a result, I find I can loosely compare it to these racquets: The Wilson Six.One 95S, the Pro Kennex Ki Q5 (295), the Yonex VCORE Tour F 97 (310g), the Yonex EZONE Ai 98 and Si 98, and the Volkl Organix V1 Pro."

Brittany- "Comparing the TFight 305 Dynacore to another racquet in the TFight Dynacore series, the 315, I found the 305 to have a little more power but a tad less control. I thought the 315 had more stability and control. Even though I prefer racquets in the low 11 ounce range, I preferred the 315."
