upon a time there was a young maiden who was the best female tennis player in all the land. Her name, Martina, came from another tennis player who in her time was also the best female tennis player in all the land. The young Martina's power flowed from her wondrous wand, which was called "Pro RD 70 Long". With her wand Martina would weave magical spells over her opponents, causing them to run left while the ball was going to the right, and making them flail helplessly as the ball passed just out of their reach.
But one day, as is so often the case in these stories, something strange happened. In the month of May in the year 1998, Martina stopped winning! Her magic spells which had entrapped so many opponents were no longer strong enough to hold her foes. Her opponents had become too powerful for Martina. The gossamer webs which had held them for so long were torn asunder by the projectiles they launched from their own powerful wands.
So Martina, in her despair, went to the great wand maker Yonex, and said, "Oh great wand maker Yonex, I need your help. The wonderful wand you made for me, which I call "Pro RD 70 Long", is no longer powerful enough for me to defeat my enemies. I am not able to release enough of the power inside of me with this wand. I need a new wand that will allow me to compete once again. Can you help me?
The Great Yonex thought and thought. He called together all his servants and said,"We need a new wand for Martina. It must allow her to release her many talents, but it must not sacrifice control. It must be maneuverable enough to catch up to the fiery shots of her powerful opponents and it must absorb the shock of their thunderous blows. Surely this is our most difficult challenge ever!"
Upon hearing the words of The Great Yonex the servants set about the task of creating this new and powerful wand. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth as wand after wand failed to meet the stringent standards set forth by The Great Yonex. Finally, a young wand designer presented The Great Yonex with a silver and maroon wand. "I believe this wand will meet the needs of Martina, Great Yonex. It has the power she desires while retaining the control she requires. It also has the stability and maneuverability that is so valuable in a wand. It will serve her well."
The Great Yonex was pleased. "If this new wand does all that you say I will name it after you. What is your name?" "My name is Titanium Long, but my friends call me Ti," replied the young wand designer, and that is how the Super RQ Ti 700 Long got its name.
And so it came to pass that all the young maidens met in the village of New York in the month of November in the year 1998 to do battle, and once again Martina was able to cast her spell over them all. Her new wand providing enough power and control to best the best of the best.
Meanwhile, far, far away, in the land of Tennis Warehouse, word of this new wand reached a band of roving wand testers. These testers wanted to know if what they heard of this new wand was true. So they acquired one from the Great Yonex himself and set about their examination.
The wand testers soon found that Martina wasn't the only one who could cast a spell with the Super RQ Ti 700 Long. It's one of the few wands that's taken power wand features (titanium, extra length, light weight) and successfully blended "player's wand" feel and control. It has the solid feel of a heavy wand but it only weighs 10.2 ounces strung. It's also a little light in the head which helps make it very maneuverable. The power it can generate can be daunting if you hit the ball flat, but it's easy to control with a little spin.
While Martina's previous wand, the Pro RD 70 (and many other wands on the market), got it's power from it's large head size and extra long length, the Super RQ Ti 700 Long uses extra stiffness to create power. This extra stiffness increases the size of the sweetspot in addition to adding power, so you get a large, powerful hitting area without having to do battle with a large unwieldy wand head.
If ever a wand would seem to benefit a certain type of player, this would be it. It is ideal for a player with smooth, easy strokes who has enough confidence to let the wand do some of the work. You don't need to muscle the ball with the Super RQ Ti 700 Long. In fact, if you're muscling the ball with this wand you're not using it right. The power will come with an easy swing. This wand is made for those magical players who like to cast a spell over their opponents with placement and spin but need a little more power and maneuverability to keep up with the big bangers so prevalent in the game today.
