Comments: Savage, like its name suggests, offers savage amounts of spin. But more important than the spin is the amount of control that the string provides. With this string, I feel confident to take big cuts at the ball, safe in the knowledge that the ball will land in. I string this at 45 pounds in a full bed on a lockout machine.
From:Edward, 11/11/20

Comments: I'm a club stringer. This is a phenomenal string that offers great control and spin. Tension maintenance is excellent, and the string lasts over 20 hours for my customers who play at the 4.5-5.5 level. It works great as a full bed or in a hybrid. The secret is to install this at low tensions, 45 pounds or below, this avoids the harshness reported in the comments below and also ensures good tension maintenance.
From:John, 11/8/20

Comments: I just got my Babolat Pure Strike 2018 strung with the lime version as a full bed at 57lb. What can I say - wow! I'm a 4.0 player and I'm a baseliner with hard heavy strokes. This string suits me perfectly. It has huge amounts of spin and literally allows me to pocket and place the ball inch perfect. The bite is amazing and so far tension is keeping well. My previous setup was hybrid Wilson Natural Gut mains and ALU Rough crosses and this is far better. Love it and will stick to this from now on.
From:Maddy, 11/16/18

Comments: The feel of this string is reasonable (according to my son), but the durability is absolute rubbish. My 15 year old son snaps it at the top of the frame after shanking the ball only after an hour to two's play. Paid $200 for roll of this stuff after good reviews, and it was a complete waste of money. We've restrung with it about 5 times since getting the roll and the same result every time, no more than a couple of hours play.
From:Jason, 3/3/18

Comments: I get plenty of spin, feel and power out of the string. It lasts about 20 hours of play for me. I have it strung up at 45 lbs in my RF97 and I can push around other 4.0 players on my groundstokes. Considering it plays quite similar to RPM Blast and probably lasts a little longer at a cheaper cost, it's a great alternative.
From:Robin, 12/2/17

Comments: I've tried several co-polys and this one was by far the most uncomfortable. Even after only a few hours of play. Although Luxilon makes great strings, I would not recommend this particular one.
From:Eric, 8/9/17

Comments: Dead, dead, dead. Came back into tennis and tried to go with something recommended/value. Entered a tournament, started hitting balls, couldn't get the ball to to do anything but drop 5 feet ahead. I can see cuts and precision being possible due to stiffness. Strung on whatever the new(er) 2014 Pure Control is at 53 lbs and another similiar racquet. When I tried to curl into a starting ball with more force, the ball simply pinged toward the corner. I got a loaner from the club visited some racquets with a bigger head and some light green string that played a little bit more lively and actually find my kickserve with it. This string is stiff and dead. Realized I got much more pocketing/control from the Crossfire Kevlar hybrid before this that eventually broke. So control? This string gave me no control because it was so stiff, I felt like I was playing cricket. If I didn't believe in my abilities I would've forfeited. The newer string and racquet played better, and despite my rehab, this Savage black forced a totally different style of faster ,fuller swings and I still couldn't get it playable.
From:J, 2/1/17

Comments: I love this string, I've been using this in my Babolat Pure Drive for the past 4 years now at about 57 lbs and have been playing some of the best tennis in my High School career. I find that it gives me lots of power which I love, but also lots of control. Definitely a great one to try.
From:Dylan, 11/16

Comments: This really is a great string! Had the same set in my V98 for two years and they still look fine. Just about to put a set of limes in my Head Pro. I really am surprised how many people have said they snap? Regards to tension, I like mine at 55 lbs, so if get them strung at 56 lbs and they will drop to 55 after a month.
From:Scott, 4/16

Comments: Great string. I use this in a Wilson Prostaff 97LS. Mains with black savage and the lime in the crosses. Great combo. Black is stiffer and powerfull. Lime has more comfort. There is a real difference between these two colors. Also the white has more comfort. I am a gravel player and this combo gives me good spin and control. Perhaps have to add a little more leadweight for netplay. Very nice groudstrokes with enough power and easy depth.I tried out a lot of different strings but this combo is the best for me.
From:Jim, 12/15

Comments: Great string, lots of bite. I used the green color. I played three sets of doubles tonight and my arm feels great. It was a demo racquet strung in August with Savage in the mains and NXT in the crosses, which were fraying and I thought the tension was still good.
From:Anonymous, 11/15

Comments: Felt great. Good balance of spin, power, and control. I typically use Big Banger Rough and sometimes Cyclone. It feels a lot like Cyclone to me. But, it's not as durable as either of those for me. It broke in 5 hours and started moving like synthetic gut after about 3-4 hours.
From:Ben, 7/13

Comments: Just started playing with Luxilon Savage Lime. I tried the Lime and the Black, but for me the Black was just a little to much dead, while the Lime was a bit more lively. I stung it in my Head Youtek Radical Lite (also in the Pro, which I'm changing to) and it really gave me a lot of control for the powerful racquet and no arm pain at all! Love this string -- loads of control and great spin and a great price.
From:Cameron, 7/13

Comments: This string is pretty good. I've hit with ALU pretty much the whole time it has been out. This string doesn't have as much control or feel, but matches pretty even in power and spin. I may switch to this string if they stopped making ALU. But overall, good job Luxilon with another great string. And, this string is pretty durable. I can usually go 2 matches without it breaking. Which, for me, is very very good. When I have ALU in, it usually breaks in the middle of the second set in my first match. If you are looking for an affordable string, this is the one for you, but I still would go for ALU if you want to spend a little extra. Thank you for reading!
From:Chase, 5/13

Comments: I really enjoyed this string. It has great spin, especially on serves, and it has awesome fell on touch shots. I would recommend stringing the Luxilon Savage on the mains, and have a more power oriented string on the crosses. Overall, I would give it a 8/10
From:Isaac, 4/13

Comments: Average poly. Everything was pretty much average except the feel and comfort. The feel wasn't really there as this was a dead feeling poly. The first 2-3 hours before the strings notch are epic. Great spin, power, andcontrol. After that it drops off and becomes an average dead-feeling poly.I also noticed the comfort was very good for a poly. It's softer than manypoly's I've tried. In comparison to Black Code, it's slightly more comfortable butless spin and for me a better feeling. There is less "ping" to it.Overall, it's an average string but dependable. I just wish I could access the spineasier.
From:Gary, 1/13

Comments: In short, it's sort of the "Honda" of string, as it's pretty good all around but nothing stands out as exceptional in a given area. In long, I strung a full bed (normally I do a hybrid of Solinco TourBite/Vanquish or ALU Rough/VS Touch). This Lux string is good in comfort, spin, power, and feel, but not great or exceptional in any category (perhaps very good in comfort I'd debate). I cannot comment on durability. I'm not dying to cut them out after 8 hours, but I'm not excited to keep them in either, and I'm debating to try other new strings I have on hand right away. I strung it in a Donnay Gold 94, and strung the lime color at 49/52 lbs and the black color at 52/54 lbs, and I prefered the lower tension. String this higher and it will feel muted/dull.
From:Larry, 12/12

Comments: At first I thought this was a great string, with low power, fair spin, not bad kick off the serve, but I was disappointed in the tension loss from this string. I will keep on looking.
From:Anon, 10/12

Comments: I'm updating my comment (5/12), this string has every thing but is very low powered. It forcing me to string it at 55lbs instead of 60.
From:M.Z., 10/12

Comments: This string has played very well for me. The spin is good but my favorite thing about this string is the pocketing, feel, and control. It almost has a sticky feel to it when you strike the ball. Some have said it feels dead, which it does if you are not used to poly strings. I happen to like strings that are a little dead. I have also tried Black Code, Pro Hurricane Tour, and Black Venom. This string seems to be softer than Babolat strings but not quite as soft as Black Code. I string it at 55 lbs on a Pro Staff 100.
From:Geoff, 9/12

Comments: Nice, crisp solid feel when you first string it, and feels like that for a good while.really does help with spin, which my 18x20 pattern needed. Strung it at 53lbs with syntheticgut in the crosses. I give it a thumbs up!
From:Javier, 6/12

Comments: Not that good with low power and it doesn't have much spin and control. Softer than the big banger but it isn't important with my P.S 6.1 95 wilson.
From:MZ, 5/12

Comments: This string is so much better than RPM Blast, it's not evenfunny. It's so much better than Pro Redcode, it's not even funny. Thisstring, if you get my drift, is not even funny. When you hit that sweetspot after a couple of break-in hits, it's like a heavenly explosion ofspin and power comes off your racket. This sensation not only resonatesoff of the string bed, it also resonates in your soul. It's amazing. And it's not even funny.
From:David, 2/12

Comments: If you really like Luxilon Alu Power, like me, and wanted totry this string because you wanted to save a little money, don't buythis. It is a good string, but it's not as crisp or as controllable asAlu Power. Plus, it is not as durable.
From:Ben, 2/12

Comments: This is a great string! Gets great bite on the ball feels very solid and is verydurable, lots of people say it feels stiff, which it can if its strung too tight. If you string it at 54 or lower you will be impressed, it will grab the ball even more and feel great. Doesn't lose its bite after a week either like some, that's why its great at lower tensions. Also FYI I ordered ablack reel and it felt a little different than the white and green... Don't ask me why but it did,so I like the green/white.
From:Brent, 2/12

Comments: A lot of people say they love this string, I find it terrible. There are better strings for spin like the best one on the market Solinco TourBite. Not only is TourBite better than Savage in spin, but power and tension maintenance and feel. When I played with Savage, the string didn't give me a good response in terms of feel. Did I hit the sweet spot or did I miss hit? I couldn't tell because the string is so "dead." If you're JUST looking for durability and decent spin then Savage is for you. Sure the durability is good but if you're looking fora combination of spin, soft feel, power, and durability there are better strings. I would recommend Weiss Cannon for that perfect combination of spin, feel, power, and durability or Solinco TourBite and BarbWire. In short, there are much better strings on the market for less money.
From:Lee, 1/12

Comments: I just tested this string today at 48 pounds on a Wilson K Blade 98 on a full string bed and I have to say to bite and pop I get off these strings are amazing to my regular set up. I use the Babolat RPM Blast on the mains at 53 and Tecnifibre X-One Biphase at 51 lbs on the crosses and I find that with the Luxilon Savage I get more top spin, more bite and more control and consistency in depth compared to my regular set up. I am switching to these permanently.
From:William, 12/11

Comments: Just finished a hitting session with a full bed of Luxilon Savage strung at 25 kg. Compared to Big Banger ALU Power it's more softer, which for me is great. I had nice access to both power and spin and great depth in my shots, from my two-handed backhand and my forehand. It doesn't have the same response on slices and volleys as Big Banger ALU Power. I felt my slices were less distinct and didn't have as much bite in them. However, for a frequent string breaker like me, I really liked this string because it's softer and pockets the ball well and I didn't feel any discomfort at all. The only question remaining before I stock up on this string is durability and how well it maintains string tension? Great buy for string breakers who want a softer string.
From:Mattias, 10/11

Comments: Luxilon Savage is definitely the string for me. This string lasts much longer than Babolat RPM Blast, and in my opinion, pockets much better, too. Savage is easier on the arm than RPM Blast, and gives more control and feel than RPM Blast. The spin factor is phenomenal. This string is worth a try if you want something cheaper and more long lasting than RPM Blast.
From:Bob, 10/11

Comments: I love this string. I read the reviews here and tried it out. It did exactly what everyone has been saying. The string is a softer string which pretty much fixed my tennis elbow problem, which I've been experiencing for the past couple of years. The Big Banger ALU 16 is a great string but I definitely get a better feel with the Savage strings. I can control my shots with ease and still have the power like the Big Banger ALU 16 and its actually cheaper to purchase. I highly recommended.
From:CK, 9/11

Comments: This is a good string. I prefer it over Babolat RPM Blast 17. I felt it has a bit more power and spin. Also, it was a little less stiff compared to the RPM, which I needed to hybrid to get around the stiffness issue. Happy with a full bed of Savage in my Wilson Pro-Staff 88.
From:Sitparan, 8/11

Comments: This is an awesome string. It has less power and bite than Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power, but that is because it is a much less stiff string. That being said, you get much more feel and control than Big Banger. I also feel that it has just a bit less spin potential than Big Banger.
From:Anon, 7/11

Comments: I use a full bed of this string and I like the feel of it. I have never had a problem with the strings moving out of place since I got them about three months ago. I want to try a hybrid with Babolat Xcel Premium though to try to reduce the stiffness of this string. Overall, a very good string.
From:John, 7/11

Comments: Average string, low power, average spin- tried this based on friends advice. I normally use RPM at 57 in APD non cortex. Very stiff compared to RPM 16g, let my arm aching. I play open tourneys in FL on clay in the heat, so it took its toll on my arm after a 3 hour match. I'm sticking with RPM, this string might lose its tension faster but it's better than a sore arm.
From:Charlie, USTA 5.0 Open player. 6/11

Comments: Luxilon Savage is a great string that does not break as easily as other people have stated. The string offers great control, great for drop shots and precise shots down the line. The string does offer some spin and does offer some pop, a step down in power from Luxilon Adrenaline but far more control. I have ordered to have 4 raquets strung with Wilson Sensation at 60 pounds and Luxilon Savage at 58 pounds. This string is highly addictive, a string you would like if you like a hard string feel. This string is not soft really but a hard string that gives you great control. Luxilon Savage is a players string for anybody who likes to make precise shots.
From:Mario. 6/11

Comments: Great string! I play every day and this string really "bites" the ball. I can hit with more power and spin than I did with Pro Hurricane. Also, the string is very durable; it lasted nearly three months for me.
From:Hunter. 5/11

Comments: I just got my Babolat AeroPro Drive Cortex strung with this and Prince synthetic gut and I could feel the power, control and spin! This string is a very good string!
From:Tyler. 5/11

Comments: After two days of hitting with Savage Lime it offers massive spin potential if you have the strokes. I felt I could take big cuts and keep the ball in the court. Also, no pain in the elbow, always a good thing.
From:David, Bakersfield, CA, USA. 5/11

Comments: When comparing to RPM Blast, I definitely found more control. It's not that jarring on your arm, and I string it at 61 or 62 lbs. Really a good string if you're looking a something comparable to Pro Hurricane or RPM Blast. I would go with this one, though I think it isn't as durable.
From:Ashok Dheenan, Cincinnati, OH, USA. 5/11

Comments: Great string! I kind of made a split-second decision when I was asked what string and tension I wanted on my new Rebel but I choose this because of the name. I got it strung at 53lbs with Gosen OG Micro 17 in the crosses. After an hour or so these strings felt great. Awesome pocketing, pop, and even control. However for me spin seemed to be lacking. I can flatten out serves and forehands but I struggle to keep me forehand deep with a good amount of spin. It either lands short and heavy or just out. Other than that, a great string and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try out a nice, soft poly.
From:Anon, Pittsburgh, PA, USA. 4/11

Comments: Was using full bed of Luxilon Ace in Vantage 95 and really liked it. Just to experiment I strung up an identical racquet with Genesis Natural Gut/Luxilon Savage Lime and just love it, the Savage Lime makes a great cross string. I may switch to this even though I prefer full bed of Poly in most cases, the Natural gut/Savage comb has just as much spin potential as the full bed of Ace and just Fantastic Feel.
From:Rudy, Glenwood, NM, USA, 03/11

Comments: This is NOT a soft string, but I must say it is a very good string; it is more like a 17 and not a 16, which is a good thing. I strung it at 51 lbs on my mains and I could have drop it down to 45-48 and still been ok. I do like the string, was able to hit every shot. This string could be use on both main and crosses, If you like Luxilon strings you are going to like this one. If I would have strung it at 60 lbs I am guessing it would have hurt my elbow.
From:Peanut, PA, USA, 03/11

Comments: I've hit with the savage lime for the past 3 weeks. Having used pretty much every Luxilon out there, I expected good bite & action on the ball. It was good but nothing exceptional like I've seen with alu rough or big banger ace but still better than M2 & Fluoro. It feels softer and has more feel than most Luxilon strings. I have no elbow pain with this string as I have had with every Luxilon string except for M2 & Fluoro. It doesn't have quite the bite or pop of big banger alu or ace I feel is a better alternative to M2 or Fluoro if you're looking for a more arm-friendly string.
From:Tom, Houston, TX, USA, 02/11
Aeropro drive @ 56 lbs 4.5 rating

Comments: This is an excellent string. Dude at the local shop said it was designed to compete with Babolat's RPM Blast, but after playing both, this one wins the honor. Soft on the arm, rough on the court and ball. Good feel, great pop. I'm making the switch permanently.
From:Mr. Chin, Laguna Niguel, CA, USA, 02/11

Comments: Set up Babolat vs touch cross and Luxilon savage main 58/58 (Aero Drive GT). Comparing to other rackets with a full bed of natural gut @ 58/58, touch and feel is similar but the savage set up gives considerable spin and bite to the ball.
From:GS, Vancouver, BC, Canada, 02/11

Comments: I was looking for a softer poly and my friend recommended Lux Savage. I have it (Savage Black) in my mains with a Wilson Sensation 16 cross. It's strung at 50/52lbs. The string bed feels soft and I can generate more spin when compared to a full set of Sensation 16. I like this set up for everything except backhands, which seems to fly once in a while. This set-up feels great on volleys. It's less stiff than the Lux Alu Power 17/Wilson Sensation 16 combo I have in my other racquet, which is strung at 48/52lbs. This combo feels like I can generate more spin though. But, if you're looking for something soft...try the Savage Black.

Yonex RD Ti-80

Comments: 1st hit today. I have Savage in my mains, NXT in the crosses. I did not see as much spin as I expected. Also hits seemed dead if I missed the sweet spot. The big positive was no elbow pain. I will update if anything changes.
