Emergency tension restorationI had a situation where both my Blade 18x20 frames strung with full poly dropped tension mid match. I had these String Savers in my bag from a pervious stringing experiment. Staggering these things on the top 2 crosses bumped tension up and restored desired low launch angle.

These definitely workUsed to be a frequent string breaker. My game has changed significantly due to injury, but I played with Pro Blend for 30 years, averaged 4-6 matches before breaking them. Had to use kevlar because synthetic gut didn't last 1/2 hour, poly was 2 matches if that. Full swings, lots of spin on forehand and serves…spin destroys strings many times more than flat power…cuts string like a saw. As mentioned, I had to change and learned to like multi. I still broke strings every few matches with a debilitated game. These things give me at least 5x string life. I use roughly 60 pieces per stringing and it breaks the first strings outside the pattern of string savers. My wife is also addicted to them because she thinks they give her more spin, and it makes sense that they would.

Comments: Great product. Easily applied, plentiful and cheap. Stays in place but allows strings to move a bit. I'm not a big breaker but I like that I could pull my tension up by probably 1-2 pounds by applying those once my original bed starts to soften.
From:Tony, 8/26/17

Comments: Very nice gadget. I use them for a full stringbed of natural gut; it definitly improves topspin, and it is very nice not to have to adjust your strings after every point. With natural gut it makes sense to prevent string braekage, since the strings usually break before they loose their playabilitiy. With poly you have to change strings long before they break, anyway. Poly string are more slick, too.
From:Andrew, 2/20/17

Comments: These string savers are the best of all the others for a different reason -- they are made of Teflon, rather than plastic. They offer reduced string friction of course, but in a less "harsh" way. The Teflon allows the strings to still move some, keeping the spin-attributes of your strings, while still protecting them -- just like "butter" with the Teflon!
From:LeRoy, 6/16

Comments: I am addicted to Babolat Elastocross SS. I have been using Babolat SS ever since I started using NG Mains. I use to break NG every month. Now I only break them once every 2-3 months. In addition, Babolat SS increases spin.
From:Charles, 3/16

Comments: I'm a heavy hitter with topspin, but unfortunately, I can't deal with polyester in the mains. It works well for a few hours, then I completely lose the feel in my shoulder. The only setup that worked for me is the "Champions Choice" with a synthetic gut in the mains and poly in the crosses. Alas in that case the mains get sawed, which is stressful and they break after a few hours. These savers completely saved me! I used to spend about $50 every 2 weeks to string 2 racquets, now the exact same setup has been working perfect for 2 months! And I just checked, the mains are still absolutely intact! No loss in feel and the spin is greater than without. Just string about 4 pounds lower. I am getting a stash of these for years to come.
From:Antoine, 9/15

Comments: Each pack comes with 150+ intersection pieces. I use one pack per three to four racquets. So costs me about 2 to 3 dollars per racquet. I recommend you experiment with your pattern. Double line, single line, every other, 2x every other, etc. The feeling changes with every pattern! You might get more spin, more durability, more control, more bite, more pocketing, or vice versa. So experiment, to see what you like. Don't worry if you make a mistake or want to try another pattern. They are really easy to put on and take off. I use half a wooden clothes pin to push them out, and place them back into the applicator to reuse again.
From:Anon, 7/14

Comments: Great for keeping your strings from sliding excessively and for saving time and money with restringing.
From:Mitcham, 6/14

Comments: These string savers are excellent for generating additional topspin. They reduce string/string friction, allowing the mains to slide over the crosses to get that snap-back effect which is very important in producing additionaltopspin.
From:Charles, 7/13

Comments: I love these Babolat string savers. I'm a chronic string breaker - my strings were sawing off in about 5 nights of practice hitting and I just got tired of the cost of re-stringing. I switched to a hybrid setup of Ashaway Kevlar mains with Babolat Xcel crosses and these string savers. This setup last for almost 4 months of hard hitting and the first thing to wear out wasn't the Xcel crosses like you might expect, it was the Kevlar mains. The outer woven material finally was ground away. I've restrung with this setup a half dozen times and get the same results every time. I string the mains at 50 lbs with crosses at 53.
From:Jim, 11/12

Comments: You might not need string savers for polyester strings since they don't really move that much during the game. I would definitely recommend this for other synthetic strings. With this string saver installed, the strings don't move and you can hit much more consistent shots with better spin and less errors. I would also recommend hitting the wall for 15-30 minutes before installing these. That way the tensions of your freshly strung strings will even out better throughout your racquet. Once you install the savers, the tensions in your strings might not even out well during the play since the strings would not move much with savers installed.
From:John, 11/12

Comments: Nice product, easy to put on the strings. Does make the strings stiffer. I use NRG 16g. I had previously used the NRG 17g and was breaking strings weekly (play 4 hours a week). I find this a good product, thus far through 3 h hours of playing no fraying of strings and no movement. Agree with comments, need to string at lower tension.
From:Anon, 6/12

Comments: They can at least double my string life. I used natural gut on the cross and Luxilon Power Rough on the main (Wilson Champion's choice). It can effectively prevent the Luxilon cutting through the gut over time. It is very easy to put them on. You need to loosen down the tensions by 1-2 pounds as those string savers cause the tension to go up a little up. Otherwise, you will feel a little "stiff" at the beginning. If you adjust down the tensions by 1-2 pounds, you will not feel the difference at all. This is a very nice product.
From:Alex, 5/12

Comments: I am so happy with this product. It saves my Babolat VS 15 (full bed) for 2 months(2-3 times a week) and I guess it will go strong for a long time. They make the main strings slide nicely without the cross strings cutting into the mains. If you use Babolat Natural guts, it's really worth the money. People who have negative feelings, I am sure they do not know how this works and how to apply. Here is my tip: using 50-70 crosses will tighten up the tension around 4 lbs. I use this amount of crosses mostly top half of the sweet spot, where the guts break most. Make sure you lower the string tension prior for the savers than it used to be. My only gripe is it's bit expensive and Babolat could provide the savers refills at low enough price.
From:Tony, 8/11

Comments: I have used these for a while, but they pop out all the time and wear just as fast as the string, and it takes a long time to put them in. Not worth the trouble for me.
From:DJ. 6/11

Comments: These things are great if you like polyester as well. The half-millimeter or so of separation that these things provide added about an extra 10-15% of spin production in my conventional non shaped/non textured full bed of co-poly. They definitely also provide a little more power to your game. I recommend doing every other cross section if you want maximum spin production.

Comments: These things really help. I break strings almost every week, and with them, they last at least two weeks (Like they say, it lasts 50% longer or something like that). AS for performance, they might be a little stiffer, but it pretty much hits the same. And tip: dont waste your well-earned money on the cheaper savers, they'll take an hour to install, but these are easy and have a well-designed dispenser. Although if you dont want to waste more money and feel like reusing them after strings do break, that will take up some time, and you might need tweezers if you want to get them back into the dispenser.
From:Conner, Ashland, VA, USA, 10/09

Comments: I'm a professional tennis player just traveling around the U.S. and prior to using Babolat ElastoCross2 string locks I broke at least 3 different racquet strings a week...I now rarely break one a week...putting in these string savers will add tension, but it definitely adds a longer life to the strings...even though I get free string now I still prefer to use them in my racquets!
From:Jordan, Dallas, TX, USA, 09/09

Comments: I had been using Babolat vs 16 in a K6.1 with 16 mains originally strung at 62 lbs, but as the tension dropped slowly over a period of two and a half months, I started to experience unpleasant string movement between points. Enter Babolat string saver locks. The Gamma ones are crap, honestly. The Babolat locks, put in the sweet spot and in select spots on the outside of the sweet spot made the natural gut feel fresh, crisp and firm again and the strings lasted another month, playing hard hitting Texan tennis. Go for these string savers IF you're a gut man/woman. No need for these if you use poly, that'd just destroy your elbow.
From:Anon. 06/09

Comments: I just tried these out on a freshly strung racket and I have to say I had a bad experience with them - the racket was much stiffer and the strings became very "twangy" when I hit the ball. To be fair I had the racket strung at my normal weight and didn't drop a couple of lbs as others have suggested - but I had such a bad experience with these I probably wont bother - just have to deal with cost of re-stringing every couple of weeks.
From:Will, Austin, TX, USA, 05/09

Comments: These are great! They have prolonged the life of my gut strings, saving me time and money.
From:Michael, Houston, TX. USA. 4/09

Comments: For those of you looking to better play, buy it. You will have to loosen up on the tension as the extra space stretches it a little, but afterward, you can hit as hard as you want without worrying about your mains cutting into your crosses. Even use a poly with the sensation and it won't cut it.
From:Bob, San Francisco, California, USA. 04/09

Comments: This stuff is great...especially if you use Babolat VS Natural ThermoGut. I myself am a string breaker and when I used this on VS gut, the durability was comparable to a co-poly... Good stuff right here.
From:Gerard, Las Pinas, Metro Manila, Philippines, 11/08

Comments: I've been using these string savers for almost 3 years now, and I have to say that they are my favorite. They do what they're supposed to do very well (extend the life of the string and save you lots of money ... especially if you play with 100% natural gut as I do). They're a snap to install, as opposed to other designs. What I don't understand is why some people use string savers for the whole surface of the racquet. String savers are only supposed to be used in those spots where the string is fraying too much; and if you only need it in 3-4-5 places on your racquet, then that's all you need, don't just put it all over the face of your racquet.
From:Chris, Dallas, TX. 8/08

Comments: Truly the best string savers you can buy. There is absolutely no comparison between these and the Gamma string savers, which are plastic. These will almost never fall out, whereas the Gamma ones fell out every single day, which cost me a lot of money. As for these, this actually SAVES you money; and a lot too. Even if they were double their current price, I'd still buy them, because they save me money.
From:Darwin, Galloway, NJ, USA. 8/08

Comments: These are really awful. I started from the top down, assuming there would be enough to do my whole racquet. WRONG, after I realized this I took them all off, getting snapped in the face more than a few times, and ended up WITHOUT enough to even do my sweet spot since you can't re-use them unless your a brain surgeon. I struggled to get the few off that I had in place, and threw the whole lot of it in the trash. Very poor, un-friendly design, not worth the price, and definitely not worth the mental agony, regardless of whether they do their job or not. If you do end up trying them out, I would recommend doing the sweet spot from the get-go.
From:Andrew, USA. 7/08

Comments: These string savers really do make the strings in your racquet stiffer. I have two racquets and only put one set of these string savers in. THEY REALLY DO STIFFEN YOUR RACQUET. Other than that, these really do do their job.
From:Don, China, 02/08

Comments: There is no comparison to the Gamma string savers. These Babolat savers are the best you can buy and putting them on is so SIMPLE. They are extremely effective and will help your strings like no other. I play tennis roughly 6 days a week for at least 2 hours each day. So being a competitive junior, I break strings at least twice a week. These string savers allow me to go for almost 3 weeks with only one break. Excellent job on these. Highly suggested buy!
From:Mark, Los Angeles, CA, USA. 4/07

Comments: These savers definitely do the job. I'm a heavy top-spin/kick serve player and I find I barely have to move my mains back into position during an entire singles match. The only drawback, or maybe what I need to figure out, is that the savers seem to stiffen my racquets and I probably need to take a couple of pounds out of my normal stringing tension. Anyone else find this? Other than that, no effect on playability for me, which was a good thing. Like I said, once I drop the tension a couple pounds, this is going to be sweet.
From:Kevin, Marietta, GA, USA, 04/07

Comments: Wow! This product is amazing! Usually I break Wilson Sensation in about 5-7 hours of high quality play. I got the hang of these things in about 10 minutes. It increased the string life by about 7 hours. It worked great on my Wilson Sensation, but if you are deciding to buy these string savers, make sure that you REALLY need them. Especially if you are using a very durable string. (LUXILON). Overall I would buy these.
From:Ben, Boston, MA, USA. 4/07

Comments: Boy do these things protect from the strings breaking! But (and there's always a but) they reduce friction of the strings rubbing together. What that did for me is when I hit with topspin, the strings move with the ball and greatly reduce the amount of spin instead of having the "bite" needed to spin the ball. Great for increasing string life, not for spin.
From:Matt, Woodstock, Georgia, USA, 02/07

Comments: These string savers are very easy to apply compared to other brands with the "tree" design. I finished a racquet in about 60 seconds. It really feels like my multifilament strings are unbreakable, since they don't snap in the first place and now they don't fray. Incredible durability from normally fragile strings. From my experience, there is no effect on playability or feel, for better or worse.
From:Mark, Honolulu, HI, USA, 02/07

Comments: These string savers are the best! I have been using them on my N-Six One Tour with my natural gut that is in the mains and I cant believe how long it makes my strings last. They never pop out like some other people say. I once had some gut in a racquet that I used for 3 months before it broke, and I am a very good junior player who played #1 singles for my high school team. If you are a hard hitter who likes to use good strings like gut, Wilson nxt, or any other great but "fragile" strings these are for you.
From:Anon, 01/07

Comments: Like the person below, I also bought the Biphase as well as NRG2. And I put on the string savers all over my strings. I used a lot, because I am a heavy topspin and slice person, and I go trough strings quick but I cannot leave multi's. So I decided to get these string savers and I loved them a lot. I am not sure, but I feel like these savers give me a little more control and spin on the ball, however I really don't see any logic in it. If you are buying gut or any good string that you want to last for a while get these string savers. They are the best. Very easy to put on, but the instructions are very bad on the back.
From:Anon, 01/07

Comments: WOW!!!. This is great invention. My X-one Bi-phase lasted twice as long as it did the last time. The only bad thing is the instructions. JUST 3 pictures, but with common sense I got it. I love them a lot. EASY TO PUT ON and better than the gamma ones.
From:Anonymous. 12/06

Comments: I usually don't comment, but this string saver is simply the best thing I came across. They prolonged the life of my strings at least 50% longer. Definitely recommended for any hard-hitting baseliner.
From:Metin, Brooklyn, NY, USA, 11/06

Comments: These ElastoCross String Savor Locks are the best thing ever!! I'm a person who breaks strings a lot, and when adding these on my strings I found my strings lasted at least 30% longer.
From:Thomas, Nova Scotia, Canada. 10/06

Comments: These are awesome. I just ordered a pack of these string savers and used them in conjunction with the Wilson NXT Tour in my Prince 107 Graphite. I decided I'd use the racquet in a 5.0 tournament singles match that evening that lasted over 2 1/2 hours, not ONE main string moved! These didn't compromise the "feel" either. I'm a believer that these will prolong the life of a set of string. Guess I can buy some more expensive, better quality string now!
From:John, Highlands Ranch, CO, USA. 10/06

Comments: Love them. Along with extending the life of the string, I like the feel I get from them. I can't speak for everyone else but I hit much better with them than without. I have no idea what the post below me is saying about the savers sticking above the string, I play with 17 gauge string and the strings are much higher than the savers. It may be possible with 19 gauge strings.
From:Eric, Philadelphia, PA 06/06

Comments: I use a Wilson triad 6.0 95'. My opinion of this product was slightly different than others. I did not like this product because I seemed to hit the savers instead of the strings. The string savers came up higher than the strings. Although they made the strings durable, they created no shot for me.
From:Brian, Atlanta, Georgia, US 6/05

Comments: These things are great. Normally I break strings (Wilson Stamina) after about 5hrs but these have extended their life to about 10hrs. Strongly advise
From:Matt Wilson, Auckland, New Zealand 06/05

Comments: These things are brilliant! I string with Pacific Space Power TX which is an expensive synthetic string, I pay approx. $55 in England for the string and stringing and I break them every three weeks - with these string savers I have so far added a week and a half and going strong. Putting them in was very easy, but to be honest once the savers are broken into pieces putting them in a second time will definitely be more fiddle and time consuming. Overall a super tennis discovery!
From: Imran, London, UK. 01/05

Comments: My experience with these has been somewhat different than other people. I am a 4.5 level baseliner using 16 gauge strings. I break strings like crazy and used Babolat for a long time. But after a careful analysis I realized they were not helping my string last longer a single bit. Recently I tried Gamma Deluxe String Saver and they were much, much better. They are thicker and the strings last *vastly* longer and produce a lot of spin as well. I would strongly recommend them instead.
From: Jay, Sunnyvale, CA, USA. 9/04

Comments: I am a 5.0 former collegiate player. These things save me as much time as money. I use a hybrid 17 gauge gut and 17 gauge Tecnifibre in my racquets. My strings last two or three times longer, saving me stringing time and money - both of which I need more of. These allow me to use gut string at about the same cost as synthetic, if you factor in stringing frequency. These string savers in combination with the gut string allow the gut to stretch and return to position with little wear. I hit the ball very hard and have long, grueling 2 1/2 hour practice sessions. This allows me up to five sessions before the strings finally break, believe it or not.
From: Ellis, Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA. 11/03

Comments: Great product and easy to put on. Without it, my strings break after 6-7 sets of singles but, with it, my string breaks after 30 sets of singles. I am a 4.0 serve and volleyer who hits a heavy kick serve and a heavy slice backhand.
From: Ryano, Jakarta, Indonesia. 11/03

Comments: These are far easier and faster to install than theString Eyes or Gamma brands. (The Gamma are reallymaddening). I use 19 gauge string, hit hard, and play 3-4 timesper week at a 4.5 level. These have at least quadrupled mystring life. By they time they break, it's past time to restring. I just do it because of the loss of tension.
From: Bruce, New Orleans, LA, USA. 11/03

Comments: I am fifteen years old and on the high school tennis team. I used to break strings every 2 weeks, But with Babolat string savers, they last a month. These are a lot better than the gamma string savers, and easier to put on. I would highly recommend these. The only problem is that your strings last SO long that you will have to get your racquet restrung because of the loss of tension.
From: Jake, Salt lake City, Utah, USA. 7/03

Comments: The instructions of using this product are horrible.
From: Tony, USA. 6/03

Comments: Great ! - Normally I break my strings after 3 weeks to a month of use. 5 weeks now and still going strong ......
From: George, Nadi Airport, Fiji Islands. 6/03

Comments: Babolat ElastoCross string savers are great and easy to install. They expand the life-span of your strings and you don't have to straighten your strings at all at the position that you insert them at. A great buy.
From: Ryan, Hong Kong, SAR, China. 5/03

Comments: These things are great. They enhance not only string life but feel. They are definitely worth buying. Also, they are so simple to install!
From: Anon, USA. 5/03

Comments: They are easy to install and last long. I am not a string breaker but still like to try out to see how they can enhance the life of a string. It works very well.
From: Nehul, CA. USA. 2/03

Comments: Well these little plastic things are a marvel. I haven't broken my strings in months. My little brother even ate one and it didn't seem to have any harmful effects on him. I would recommend them to anybody.
From: S. Davis, El Paso, TX. USA 2/03

Comments: The ElastoCross string savers are easy to place, BUT you end up wasting about the last 7 of them due to poor design. They work well once inserted in the racquet. Now I break strings in areas other than the sweetspot, so I know they are working. However, I can't say "double your string life" like others. In my ProStaff 85 and Becker Pro the strings break all the time regardless.
From: Rex Lybrand, Atlanta, GA. USA 2/03

Comments: I am a hard-hitting junior player who normally breaks 2 sets of "high durability" strings a week. Babolat ElastoCross 2 String Locks gave me two weeks out of one set of strings. On top of that I feel that they have given me better spin control and I don't have to straighten my string nearly as much.
From: Steve, York, PA. USA 9/02

Comments: These are great for all players. They work really well with all string and my string has lasted twice as long with them on. A great thing to have in your tennis bag.
From: Travis, Riverside, CA. USA 4/02

Comments: Elasto cross string locks are great! they are easy to put on and will enhance the life-span on and string.
From: John, Boca Raton, FL. USA 6/01

Comments: Babalot ElastoCross 2 String Locks is really a great product. I don't break strings as often as i did in the past and it gives me a better feel for the ball. Provides good enhancement for control and spin. You don't have to be a pro to reap the benefits!
From: Boian, Houston, TX. USA 2/01

Comments: ElastoCross 2 String Locks are worth every penny and will keep your strings from breaking. They add control, enhancing playability. I am a 4.0 - 5.0 level player who plays with the Division I team players at Rice College.
